    Loss of taste?

I was wondering if anyone here has experienced a dramatic loss in the ability to taste from using snus or portioned snus.

Over the weekend before Christmas, I was using Offroad Cranberry and Strong portions the whole time due to the family presence......and I didnt care to do any loose in public.

The day after Christmas my ability to taste anything dropped by around %90

Its been like this the last few days now. I have quit using the portions for now, and have used los since.... I think its a little better this am.

Im wondering if I have a allergy to the material in the "bag" or if the snus finally got around to killing my taste buds. Ive been snusing for a month, mixing portion and loose....why now?

Has anyone else had this experience?

I think everything is normal with me. My sense of taste seems about right. My sense of smell has gotten better since I've cut back on cigarettes. I'm not sure that's a good thing :^P

The only time I have experienced a loss of taste or smell is when I am catching a cold. Snus has never caused this for me however.

The portion bags use the same material they use for tea bags, so if you are allergic to that, then it is possible...

Certainly no snus effect on my taste buds at all.

            Ah......

thanks for the replies thus far!

The only other thing I can think would have caused this would be a session with hookah the day before Christmas..... I dont usually have reactions with hookah tobacco..... but I willl keep a certain brand and flavor off my rotation till I find out the cause.

The same thing happens to me - the loss of taste. With me, it's mostly because I've eaten or drank something that interferes with the taste of snus. There was a thread about "cleaning the palate for snus" that you might want to check out. I find that eating an apple before snussing makes a difference.

Try brushing your tongue. I do this regularly and don't have any taste issues. It also helps with keeping your breath fresh. Bad breath is usually caused by bacteria on your tongue and towards the back of your tongue. It can also make your taste buds less effective.

Kava and drinks with kava can also temporarily render your taste buds less effective as well. (chewing on dried kava will also make your mouth and tounge go numb for a bit hehe, but it's a great natural sleep aid as long as you don't use too much too regularly)

I went to Snus from smoking so my sense of taste and smell increased.
