    Dry mouth

Hey guys. I think this is my first official post. I just turned 20 years old and I dipped from age 16 until January of this year. In all honesty I loved it. Smokeless tobacco consumption to me is one of the finer things in life. However after seeing some of the numbers as far as TSNA's go and reading some horror stories of young guys getting oral cancer, I decided to switch to snus. I know the c-word is a long shot but I figured that I'd be lucky enough to be the next Sean Marsee. I made the switch to snus in January and it's so much better than American smokeless in taste, quality, consequences on health and to continue my sweet love affair with smokeless tobacco. However I have a problem. I've had this horrible dry mouth since the switch and I'm not sure if it's because of the absence of dip (damaged saliva glands, lack of stimulation) or if it's because of snus. Are there any other ex dippers on here that have had a similar experience? Has it gone away?

I also find that I have a dry mouth with Snus. Snus itself doesn't cause you to salivate and one might subconsciously actually reduce salivation to avoid dripping. On top of that, I find that I drink a little less than before, plus I tend to swallow straight rather than swish the drink around in my mouth.

It hasn't bothered me so far, but I think you can get around it by simply avoiding the behavior I've outlined.

Another issue might be the salt content.

You might wanna try some original portions if you've been using whites or loose. They tend to be much more moist and juice up quickly without any stimulation. Drinking some water or another beverage while snusing will help, too, but it's also possible the snus you've been purchasing isn't at its freshest if you haven't been ordering it online. Check the best before dates again, and maybe add a slice of cucumber or lemon peel to moisten up your snus and see if that helps.
