    Mouth Pain.

I have been using snus for over a year now so I am not new to snusing. I have noticed that every evening for the past week or so my upper lip and gum area where I place my portions is very very sore. I don't know if I am using more than normal or if it is because I primarily am using sterks now. But something has to give because it is making my snus experience unbearable. I have tried to use mouth wash to kill germs, and even though it doesn't make it worse, it doesn't help either.

    Any ideas y'all?

    I am getting annoyed.

Are you varying where you place your snus Christi? eg. moving between different sides of your mouth every other portion?

Oh, another thing. I tend to chain-snus sterks and sometimes when I over do it a bit when I'm stressed I get sore gums even varying where I place my portions but I find that Corsodyl mouth wash helps. Not sure if it's called that in the states but it's basically Chlorhexidine digluconate (http://www.gumsmart.co.uk/treatment/mouthwash.shtml)

    Hope that helps.

No same spot, dead center. I get too much drip else where. I guess I need to try to switch it up. I used to switch sides until I found out I liked the center better.

Oh I have never seen that mouth wash here. I think I might just smear some orajel up there for now.

I enjoy snusing more on the top right as I seem to get more of an intense hit that side but try to avoid always doing that these days to avoid soreness

I have a fang on my upper right so it proves to be harder for me to snus there. Tends to slip. I just put in an 02 in my upper left and dried my lip really good with a rag before hand to make sure it doesn't drip too bad. Next portion I am gonna try to deaden the area with the Orajel

if that doesnt help try licking the portion before you put it in, not to where it drips but to where it isnt bone dry, if your gums are dry and the portion is dry it might irritate it more.

                      LaZeR, you crack me up.

Ok, the orajel worked good, I only had to use it once and the rest of the night I didn't notice anymore pain. This morning no pain at all. I think I need to stop chain snusin' and see if that fixes the problem. I don't need to do that, I just feel like I always need a portion in my mouth.

all things in moderation... honestly folks if you drank water constantly all day you'd kill yourself too.

Honestly, I hate to sound like a pussy, but maybe this is just a result of chain snusing sterks. I used to get some gum discomfort from serks when I first quit smoking and was loading them up too often. I only use regs. now, so this has lessened, but the mouth will still sting if I really chain snus. Of course, if I chain snus I will also start sweatin bullets and have to take a shit really badly every 5-10 minutes, so the chompers are the least of my worries.

I would also speak with a dental professional of some kind if you can. I can't speak for everyone on this forum, but I can say that my own opinion is wildly uninformed at best.

I had this happen when I first started using snus. Definitely switch between sides and consider if the particular snus you're using might be more irritating than some. Thunder Frosted is your POC (portion of choice) right?

I've noticed mint portions and sterk portions are both more irritating to gum tissue, and if you chain 'em back to back like I do. Maybe it's time to expand your tastes with a cheap-as-hell grab bag roll from SnusCentral.com.

But you absolutely need to switch where you're snusing. There are at least four "pockets" you can put snus in on top not counting dead center. Bottom lip it temporarily if you have to -- I did while the top healed up, but I was a snus noob at the time.

TBH, I get the impression you are chain-snusing Thunder Frosted in *one* spot in your mouth all day long. I would probably be bleeding all over the place and have blisters and canker sores if I did that but maybe my gums are on the sensitive side.

Keep in mind that Orajel will only deaden the pain and will not promote healing so you're still doing damage if you continue whatever practice led to the soreness. With a few exceptions, pain is a result of damage to tissue and while Orajel and similar anesthetics are a great tool to provide relief, they're only covering up the signals your body is trying to send you.

Okay, enough preaching :P Glad to hear your gums are feeling better.

I laid off the chain snusing today all day. There is still pain in that specific spot, but not as bad. I switched up from center to left side most of the day. I realize the orajel will only help the pain for a few moments, but I needed the relief. I only used it the one time. I am sure the Frosted is one of the main causes of the irritation. I notice that the General Mint was doing the same, so it must be the tingling from the mint that is part of the issue??

                              Anyway, thanks for the replies.
