why does this form on my tongue? *warning* ugly mouth pics

I have this patch of tastebuds that turn white and get swollen. It also aches underneath.
I try to shave them off with my teeth and it works sometimes, but not always. There's some tough ones that just won't go away. I also try to pluck them out with tweezers but they don't grip.
    It's really annoying.
I've had this problem with using dip, and now I'm experiencing it with snus.
The dark spot you see in the pictures is a recessed bunch of tastebuds (it looks shaved off, but i know i didn't do it)

If I stop for a day or so it will subside and go away...but it always comes back in the same spot if I use tobacco again a lot. What the hell is it that's going on? I stopped for today and they haven't receded at all...but I have the flu today so it's not surprising.

Seeing a doctor might put your mind at ease.

... in this case... it looks like what I've always had on my tongue, when I still was smoking and I never visited a doctor for that." Using booze should clear it.

            I'm not kidding!

But you should visit a doctor, who has reasonable prices, if it gets worse.

            Cheers!

That's no joke. My wife and I rented 'SickO' the other night. We're seriously considering moving to canada or england in 5 years after watching that. lol

                Don't move to England, it's a wretched, soul-crushing country. :?

i have an acquaintence who's an ER doctor. since I had the flu yesterday and took a day off last week...he wrote me a doctors note to use. saved me some money and time for sure.
i forgot about asking him while I was at his house. if i ask him now he might think i'm using him or something. I'll try to slip it in next time we're talking about whatever.
anyways it blows having to pay medical bills all of a sudden. 6 years in the military of not paying them was rather nice. (i had a shitload of appointments and prescriptions, a couple ER visits, a surgery) as much of a joke as being in the military can be, some things you don't realize are that special till you're without them. I have psoriasis and luckily I stocked up on prescriptions before I left, but it's not going to last forever of course. I'm also having back trouble and pains in my shoulder after having ****ed it up at work. I used to get appointments for anything...now I gotta grin and bear it till I can't take it any longer. and with my accident prone stupid ass, that's not good.

Thats one thing we don't even think about over here.
We don't even pay for prescriptions here (Wales) well, not directly!
The back of my tongue looks a bit like that, no problems/pain though and my taste buds are world class!!!!
I told a top notch French chef what flavourings his girlfriend put in a dessert, and, he confirmed every ingredient I said, when he quized her!
                    Sometimes, I supprise myself
