    Cigarette Smoking and Snus

Does cigarette smoking and Snus use become
    incompatible over time?
As I use even weak snus (white portion) the cigarettes
(roll my own) I smoke become less and less desirable.
Simply, snus use seems to change the way cigarettes taste
even though I have developed a perfect blend (for me) and
pay attention to humidity and freshness of the tobacco.
    Is this only me?

I started snus with no intention of quitting. When I found myself smoking less, I put in the minimal effort into "quitting" smoking. I still smoke a cigarette or 2 per week, and they're delicious when I do. I can't chain smoke like once did though. More than 1 in a row just doesn't taste that good to me anymore.

I think it's different for everyone. I started with Camel (american) in order to slow down smoking at work. Slowly I started using them at home. When Badfish and I started ordering online we both stopped smoking completely. Now almost 2 months without smoking and even second hand smoke smells horrible to me. My taste and sense of smell have returned, now I enjoy tasty tobacco though and we recently had a couple nice cigars and enjoyed them. But as for inhaling...just not interested anymore. You'll find the balance that works for you...1 smoke a week or 10...total quit or just occasional.

After quitting cigarettes for three days, your sense of taste and smell improves. That's why the first cigarette after a period of abstinence tastes horrid.

I occasionally smoke and snus at the same time. Just know your body, know how much nicotine is "enough" and "too much" and you are fine,

In the end, it is regulating the amount of nicotine you are getting. Your body cares not HOW you get the nicotine.

I started snusing to get off the cigs.So far it's working beautifully. Now,thanks to this forum I've been introduced to the wonderful world of nasal snuff (girlfriend NOT pleased). So,between the two there's a rather large amount of nicotine running through my veins. No room for cigs.

Been snusing for 2 months now... and I still can't shake the smokes. I am sure it is psychological due to smoking for more that 33 years.

I can pop in a General ES (or Thunder Frost) and 45 minutes later I might STILL get some major cravings for a cig. The strange this is, sometimes just walking outside as if I were going out to smoke takes care of the craving. Other times, I can light up and take 1 hit off of a cig before I am fine. And yet, other times that one hit makes me feel like I have had too much and that I didn't need it after all even though I was sure that I needed that hit before I did it.

Maybe my frustration will teach me just to stop buying the cigs.

                  Bullitz. .

But regard the glass as half full.
The benefits after even two months
are that you are both a snuser and
a smoker. . .much more in control.
This would seem to be an advantage
                  rather than something negative.
                  And don't be frustrated. You're a
                  winner!

Don't stress not quitting right away. It was about 7 months before I really quit cigarettes. What helped me was keeping my smoking tobacco in the car. If cigarettes are there next to me, I'll grab one just because they're there. If I had to go outside and get them, it usually wasn't worth the effort(but sometimes it was :^D). That helps beak the habit of smoking just for something to do. If you have to make a trip, you really think about whether you want one or not :^)

And, this of course, will make you think of quitting. . .
