I know people like to be a little clearheaded with things they do etc. and believe the studies and reports that are most appealing. but there was a huge study done on over 100,000 construction workers that said snus posed a 40 percent risk for death and cardiovascular disease.
Now i KNOW people are going to say well that study is old, other studies have contradicted it etc etc. I am not saying that study was perfect, or 100 percent correct. What I am saying is they used the same sample base, same type of people, facing similar variables, observed them for a long period of time, and most importantly it was a huge sample of people. They saw a connection. No matter what the reasons are, or factors, maybe the tsna levels were higher back than, whatever. What I would get out of that study, is that they did see a connection. and I would not dismiss it 100 percent. I would take it under consideration just as much as the positive studies. I would also keep in mind that a lot of the newer studies have been partially or fully funded by parties interested in selling snus. No one sponsors or supports a study that will negatively impact them. Statistics is more of an art form than a science. There is all kinds of ways to retrieve analyze and present data in a way to convey a pre-determined point.
The moral of the study is not to argue with anyone. Its just to use a little common sense. and no matter what you believe, Just acknowledge that too much of anything can be harmful. And dont dismiss everything in light of much smaller newer studies. take everything into consideration is all. Hope i dont get attacked now for not saying something 100 percent positive.
