    Master Cleanse and Snus

Anyone heard of this detox diet? I'm doing a bit of preliminary research to see if it would be good for me. I eat a typical American diet - lots of sugar, fat and processed foods & thought it might make me feel better. You basically just drink a "lemonade" made with maple syrup & cayenne for a week and nothing else. I know that you're not supposed to smoke on a fast, but I was wondering if I could get away with popping a few portions?

Or do you think it would mess me up?

The nicotine will hit you hard, but you won't die. Have fun and give us updates.

Don't they have a customer service rep to ask?

Fasts are good for you if done correctly. If you want to detox from your diet you could also do a raw foods diet for a few weeks. It is basically a lot of green smoothies (fruit + greens in a blender, better than it sounds), and as many raw vegetables as you can want.

I did this for about a month and got my digestive system back on track and felt great.

Another alternative is "juice feasting", where you have a shit ton of freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices during the day and it will also give the digestive system a break (one of the main purposes of a fast). It also allows you to have calories and nutrients. I have not tried the lemonaid fast but a lot of people swear by it.

It's just a fad diet with little evidence to support it's efficacy, and I doubt it would do little more than shed a few pounds. I know that Cayenne pepper helps to remove estrogens from the body ingested through tap water, but that is the only benefit I see in the program. It'd probably be better to speak with a nutritional specialist at a gym and have them figure your body mass index for you and draw you up a personalized diet.

If you want to lose weight just start smoking crack on the regular.

I am always kind of skeptical about all these fad diets, look at Atkins, one of the most unhealthy diets, and was a BIG hit everywhere ehre in California for the ebtter part of a year.
