Well i mean essentially, if you go by all the other reports, it wouldnt seem snus is all that bad all together. All the other studies says that there is real no significant risk for oral cancers, cardiovascular disease, lung cancers, stomach cancer etc etc. The only two negative reports I have seen so far is one that links snus with pancreatic cancer, and the 1994 report. The pancreatic cancer one does not bother me too much because the risk seemed really small. I think it was out of 20,000 or 10,000 people 9 would get pancreatic cancer from snus, while four would get the same cancer not using any form of tobacco.
The reason why the 1994 report bothers me is because it was a very large study. Even tho it was criticized as not being perfect, it has a lot more statistical power then the other studies. Plus a lot of the newer studies are at least partially funded by the tobacco companies.
I mean if all the other studies are correct, and future studies prove the same thing, then snus might have a positive health gain. Nicotine is a drug like any other, it has positive and negative effects. Its just that no one talks about the positive effects. But notice how they talk about the positive effects with alcohol. how it helps prevent heart disease lol.
