I believe I read that you only absorb about 25-30% of the free nicotine labeled on the snus in 1 hour. i.e. 8 mg/g General Original would release 2-3 mg of nicotine in 1 hour into your system. This would be about 2-3 cigarettes depending on the brand and how you smoke.
Ekstra Sterk at 15 mg/g would release 4-5 mg nicotine which is 3-4 cigs. I was a 15 cig per day smoker and I prefer extra strong snus because I only need 3 or 4 prillas per day to satisfy my nicotine needs ingrained during my smoking years. If I use regular strength snus I tend to feel like I should put a new pris in right after I take the old one out so I stick to sterks. I feel like you should just snus when you feel like you need to smoke. It doesn't take very long for your body to reject cigarettes and you will find your hand reaching for your can of snus instead of your pack of smokes. If you still crave the quick nic fix from cigs, try to rotate in nasal snuff for those occasions - it does the trick.
