Just my 2 cents... It doesn't matter whether you smoke 2 packs a day or 5 ciggs a day, Nicotine addiction is nicotine addiction and no matter how much you smoke you will go through withdrawl all the same...

Yeah but im starting to think that theres somthing else in a cigarette that alters someone mood? I skipped the morning cig today and replaced it with a snus- now im tired, a little groggier and unhappier than normal. Very discouraging!

I think it might be too much nicotine with the snus, and it's kicking your ass. While it's fun demonizing tobacco companies, and imagining there's secret ingredients in cigarettes to aid addiction, I think it's all BS. They add a crapload of stuff to regulate the product, but it's the nicotine that's addictive.

So only leave the snus in for a shorter period of time?

Either a shorter period of time, or use minis. Keep in mind, that snus will strengthen your nicotine addiction. You'll get used to the snus, and be tied in tighter. That isn't a concern to me. People are addicted to all kinds of things you can find on the grocery store shelf, but if you want to get away from nicotine completely, it's something to be aware of.

I'm saying you seem to have an addictive nature therefore beware of all
things that can lead to any kind or level of addiction, be they Twinkies,
OTC medications, and, yes, even snus. Pick your addictions wisely and
let them be those that do no or very little harm.

And it's never too soon as far as any addiction goes! They don't just
creep up on you unless you totally ignore the signs of craving them.

Like anything else you abstain from after some use, there will be
periods of withdrawal; you just can't give in to them. Yeah, I know --
easier said than done but that's life ... and life is too short to waste
                on negative behaviors.

                    That's not a bad addiction, unless you're 400 lbs

And from what I've detected on this forum, you're not a Twinkie either!!

Although the resemblance is truly uncanny!

For reasons I can't explain I find that the mini's work much better for me as far as withdrawal goes. Anything wit hmore tends to give the chitters for some reason and I was a 2 pack a day smoker. The mini's just seem to keep me at an even keel all day.

I think this was how I did it. Camels to Camel lights, to ultra lights to American Spirit ultra lights (like smoking a stick) to 3,1 and then quit the day the Snus arrived from Sweden. Made the mistake of buying minis and then doubling them.

physicalls- The new nicotine delivery system was a little bit of a adjustment because my brain loved those nic spikes you get from directly hitting the lungs. No shakes or withdrawls, no coughing up excess amounts of stored tar.
Bad lack of sex drive/erection problems the first week. Second week sex drive was back and better. Odd throat pain in glands for a couple of weeks and only thing I could think of was the bodys way of detoxing years of smoke inhalation.

mentally- Felt really stoned for two weeks and then another two weeks of slight anxiety. The hand to mouth was also throwing me way off. Drinking and vacations made me slip back to smoking a couple of times.

emotionally- Feels like killing your best friend and can get very depressing. A loss of identity in a way also.
Within time you will realize how bad that friend was and the stupidity of the habit.

Thanks for all of your replies. i really like the community here-

As far as an update, im down to one cigaratte a day. Ive been liking general white the best- so far. it seems like you guys switch it up a lot.

Im having some trouble identifying how much niccotine im really getting. I like to leave the generals in for about an hour- to get a good buzz, and really feel like a cigarette would be terrible instead of beneficial.

Ive heard that an 8 mg snus for an hour is equal to one cig. Ive also seen 3-4 cigs from an hour. Does anyone know for sure??

Epeer2, Geat! you are almost there.

Looks like you are going the dual use way and many here at SnusOn did it that way until the Snus finally won.
In a portion the nicotine level lingers longer where with smoking it hits harder but also goes away faster.

I can feel that it does! But is it the same amount? going into the bloodstream?
