No kidding bro................I'd be there now but its raining. BTW the first pic is of the trail up to Andrew Bald in the Great Smoky Mts. The second is Mt Craig- 2nd highest peek east of the Rockies. It's right next to Mt Mitchell (the highest peek). I was there last week

Does that make me a badass that I can have loose snus without mudslides and sniff Square scotch snuff without the sneeze, cough and the throat hit?

He's more a nutass than a badass. I think badass as some cool, witty, macho, tough, yet human, guy that you'd wanna be like. I personally would not want to be like a nutball psycho killer.

I guess he was a badass in that movie, and he certainly looks like a badass but I know I'm in the minority here, but I think that movie was the biggest waste of two hours...right up there with the Big Libowski. I just thought it was a terrible film.

I will just say that due to a strong penchant for postmodern nihilistic grit Cormac McCarthy doesn't translate all that well into the world of cookie cutter cinema (i.e. Matt Damon ruining All the Pretty Horses), and when he does (No Country, The Road) nobody likes what they see. I'll keep the man on my bookshelf through.

And you didn't like the Big Lebowski?

And speaking of BA MOFOs if Blood Meridian ever gets made into a movie, the Judge will probably take the prize of bad mothereffer of millennium. I mean, he already is in my book, but nobody knows what the hell I am talking about.

I liked No Country, but would have ended it better. I like films with a more finality ending, than an open page.

Great reads, those 2 movies were so close to the book that I felt equally disturbed at the end of both, hah.

Honestly, I enjoyed The Road. Vivid prose of harsh austerity and emotional tension and all that tripe, but I really felt that the ending was a little forced. Maybe its just the pessimist in me, but I find McCarthy much more gratifying when he doesn't try and answer any questions or produce a happy ending.
