    guns and georgia

me and a friend of mine got into an argument about this. I told him you can purchase a pistol or revolver at 18 in the state of georgia. you can't carry them on your person BUT you can have them in your house, private vehicle and place of business if allowed or if you own it without having a license to carry.

he says you have to be 21 to even purchase a firearm if it isnt a rifle or shotgun.

    which is it?

Usually it's can't buy handguns unless your 21.

But riddle me this, it says:

"..or any felony involving the use or possession of a firearm and who shall have on or within arm's reach of his or her person a firearm during the commission of, or the attempt to commit:

Any crime against or involving the person of another;"

So what if I were to hack into a persons computer while I was "within arms reach" of a firearm, it somehow becomes a gun crime and I cannot ever own or carry a weapon?

Is there anything more symbolic of America than casually firing your gun into the ceiling of a Wal-Mart?

If its a felony to hack that computer and youre a convicted felon you could be charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. YIKES.

when I was 18 I got the old mans .22. Many o' rats were killed at the dump 20 miles off in those days. The cops would just cop to make sure someone human wasn't being killed and confinscated the beer I was stupid enough to leave out.

(and they cracked it open and drank it before they even got back to their car)

Today there would be hearings.........outrage..............concerned citizen's groups..................and yet somehow the country was saner and more well adjusted back then.

                    L. My buddy and I used to stumble across old stills when we were 14 or so carrying 16 gages and hunting old tires and cans. Quite often Mr. Pace would fire a shot in the air (to ward off would be revenuers) and we would stand still and yell that we were Mr. Johnny's boys (my Granddad). Mr Pace would appear before too long and say he was hunting cony for dinner. He'd sit down, talk with us, sample the shine and give us a sip or two (burned like hell). My kids can't go out side with a pocket knife today.

I think Mr Pace had it right
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

I'll tell you why that is Mr Dogg. Moral busybodies have taken over and the nanny state has began. All I ever hear from the older generation is a time when if kids were doing something stupid, the cops would say cut it out, or clean up after your done etc. Nowadays you do 5 years in jail. I hear stories about how there was less government intrusion and a lighter air about people in general, where there were common moral standards (for most people anyways). The cars were chrome and the women were straight as Michael Savage would say.

Then the hippies came around, and eventually grew up, and now they ARE the man, and have dedicated their lives to playing everyones nanny. Then the republicans changed from family values to whatever the hell they are on now, where half of them are gay or cheating on their wives etc etc.

During the world wars we were able to win because every farmboy had shot a rifle since before he had chair on his chest, nowadays it's different and guns make the average person scared just to see one (in california at least).

I fear for the next generation, of which my daughter is party to, as well as my own.
