Yah it just happened so quickly. My wife is out of town this week and I am alone in the house, but she was with me yesterday since my batery died. It happened so fast all I could utter was a grabled "9-11, 9-11, call 9-11" and then i sat in like a vegitative state untill they arrived, with my hands clenched tight and all my muscles contracting viciousely.
I'm calling my Dr right now to move the appointment up. My whole body is extremely sore, especially my stomach muscles and organs.
You keep mentioning the clenched hands. And that was so how mine were. Not only that, but my arms were curling as well. I too had bruises from nowhere. What did the emt's do? Did they bag you? I know a big reason I was in the hospital was so they could hydrate and flush my blood. They really couldn't do anything about the rhabdo. They had to let it happen but keep me hydrate so the myoglobin didn't block my kidneys and send me into total renal failure.
So in the mean time drink water and lots of it. No caffeine or alcohol till you get checked out dude.

The EMT's thought I was just hyperventilating basically and had me take long deep breaths for about an hour. They asked if I wanted to go to the hospital but I started feeling better, so I declined and signed the release form. It went away slowly, and afterwards I drank a protein shake since I still wasn’t hungry, and my body felt like it was surging with nutrients. So maybe I just don’t have enough vitamins but my body is in a world of hurt today, especially my organs, so I dunno I’m just drinking lots of water and eating. I looked at the link you gave me and I am really worried about the kidney thing, now I almost wish I had gone to the hospital because my kidneys are hurting, but then again so is everything else. The only hope I have that I don’t have the condition you did is that it happened quickly and went away in a matter of hours, and I don’t seem to be having any problems today, but you said your continued happening. For how long?
Well like I said I was in the hospital for like 2 weeks. They had to wait for the CK levels to go down. Then I was still in pain for sometime. They had me going in for blood tests for awhile to make sure the ck levels weren't going up any more. My case was extremely bad. This is a rare condition as well so the emt's may not have even know what it is. But just because yours isn't as bad doesn't mean it's not bad. Not trying to scare you dude, but I would be at the emergency room right now getting a blood work up If I was as sore as you are and having me tell you what happened to me.
So I called my Dr and every dr at the place my HMO is for are all booked up for the next 15 days. I have been on hold since we started talking about 15 min ago and waiting to talk to the Dr. They said I might need to goto urgent care but I am still on hold.
So I just got back from the urgent care and they took blood work. The Dr. said he has to wait for the blood work to come back because I do have all the symptoms of Rhabdomyolysis but says that usually you have to really strain you muscles to get that, he says it could be a thyroid problem or it could have just been a street induced hyperventilation and panic attack.
I'll have the lab results by the end of the day so he'll call me if anything worth mentioning shows up.
EDIT: Also on a political note I asked him about how he liked this HC reform (you know me) and he didn't have many good things to say. They don't take medicare patients as it is because they can't break even and he thinks the whole plan is going to fail miserably and end up costing more than it's worth.
Another thing that's crossed my mind. You haven't had your first epileptic fit have you?
And on the Army front - I'm not going to hoodwink you. We've spoken before many months ago. I was under a different name until I got the hump with the forum. We've got on well and you're a good man mate. I was infantry too.

Glad you've started seeing your doc.
Ahh. Yes, though I can't remember the name I recall you and me talking. Damn internet anonymity
I've never had anything like that happen for more than a couple minutes, and nowhere near that severe. I hope your blood work checks out ok. I'm guessing it's "one of those things", and won't likely happen again. I like the suggestion of more food. .5-1 meal a day isn't enough for someone who's active. Add snus to that, and I could see you having some issues.
I have diabetes in my family but I never eat sugar so i'd probably notice if my blood sugar being low affected me. The Dr said he will only call me if the blood work says anything bad, otherwise don't expect a call. He said he would call by today if there was anything and it's 6:20 now and still no call.m
I think your right lx, maybe just one of those things (hopefully). Im probably just not eating right.
So first i'd like to thank BigBlue1 for possibly saving my life. I am waiting all day for this call to see if there was something bad. The dr said he wouldn't call if I was okay. So it's about 8pm and no call. Therefore I figure it's nothing. It is then that I get the call, telling me that my CPK levels are at around 1,000, average should be 20-200.....
So the Dr thinks that I just didn't drink enough water and over exerted myself. He says drink water and come back in a week for another test.
I have been doing lots of research on this and apparently any muscle damage will cause this. My theory of what happened is this:
I over stressed myself and wasn't well hydrated, so I started breathing really hard. Short quick breaths led to hyperventilation. Hyperventilation led to panic attack, which led to more hyperventilation. My blood circulation starts sucking and I start getting tingly and my muscles start cramping everywhere in my body really really badly. I establish good breathing and it goes away. I must have damaged my muscles when they were contracting due to my poor circulation and this caused a spike of CPK. So strain>breathing wrong>bad circulation>extreme cramps>muscles released too much CPK.
Therefore, if I just don't work out and drink water it should go back to normal. Hopefully. Also, I take creatine supplements, is there any way this could have affected my CPK level? Also I drank the night before so this may have also increased them.
So all in all I think I should be cool, but prolonged high CPK levels lead to what BigBlue had and I want to avoid that like the plague, so drinking 2 liters of water a day this week.
And dog.... 2 thunder frosted portions baby, my signature move. Putting in a snus when this started happening probably didn't help my circulation at all.
Dehydration is a bitch. I had something similar happen to me a few summers back. I don't drink enough as it is (well, non-alcoholic stuff anyways) so that coupled with a very hot summer and me sprinting half a mile essentially led to the same you described. Haven't had any problems since and the ER staff were like "yeah, sure, no big deal" when I thought I'd had a heart attack for sure... which was silly, since I had zero chest pains.

Well I'm glad you took my advice. I'm sure there were some on the board who were thinking my story was a lil weird. But it was all true. I can't remember what my cpk level was when i got in the hospital but it was huge.
It took 2 weeks to stabilize at like 400-500. Anyway hope it goes down and not up. Drink that water man.
Can I change my handle on this forum?
