EDIT: I guess I could just use a memory stick to move all my media to the laptop, but that will take forever, and then Id have to move it all back when done.....any way around this?

Do it over the network. Share your folders that have the stuff you want to transfer, and put it all on the laptop. If you do it over wireless it'll be a little pokey, but if you start it at night, it should be ready by the time you wake up.

Edit:
You really should consider a backup solution though. Running your stuff off of 1 drive is dangerous if the data can't be replaced.

There's no way to do a full install of any OS without rewriting the partition table (and by this losing your data) unless you have a second drive to install to.
