Ah, I love that tune. Glenn Miller's a big favorite of mine. You know what I like listening to old big band on? My netbook. The sound's terrible, but the tinny speakers really add to the retro feel. It's like listening to an old, half worn out radio :^)

      Check this out...

Poke around the archive some more also. Look up big band remotes. They have lots of stuff from the jazz age, all free to download. They aren't always in the best condition, but it adds to the character imo. They also have old radio serials, and movies from the birth of cinema. Lots of cool stuff to look through.

              I forgot about this site...

              http://www.jazz-on-line.com/

I'm not sure what their terms are now, but you used to be able to pay $5 to access as many downloads you wanted for a month or something. You don't /have/ to pay to download, but it helps cover their costs, and $5 is a bargain for all that music. Quality varies, but I'm very tolerant of imperfections on old music like that. You can do mass downloads pretty easily with the DownThemAll addon for firefox...

I went to DC once to see Dizzy at a club. For some reason it didn't occur to me that it would have sold out long before the night of the show :^D

You could hear pretty well outside the back of the club, but it was cold as hell that night, and I had my girlfriend with me, so I bailed on it. Really a poor decision. It wasn't long after that he died :^( If I had been by myself, I'd have probably stayed. There were a couple DC natives hanging out behind the club, and it probably would have been a good experience passing a bottle, and listening to the tunes :^)

Ever since my first trip to Seattle in 2000 ive been hooked. I stream John in the morning usually and sometimes Sheryl's and Kevin Cole.
I have several friends who live up there so I try to visit every August.

I'm listening to Pop crap that I can't seem to get away from... Eenie meenie miney moe... Can't get it out of my head!

This is very sad coming from someone who has a Master's in Music... Yes, that's right! I'm a classically trained musician and I still listen to teeny boppin' pop crap... *sigh*

Now where's that Bach Öster Oratorium I had been listening too... Need to find better music, need to find better music, need to find better music...
