    Silly Games.

I have been a wargamer and role-player for many years. I was wondering if anyone else shares my enthusiasm for "silly games."

Burning Chrome? That's a Cyber Punk reference right away!

Sounds like you started gaming about the same time that I did. I cut my teeth on Traveller and Gamma World and I have played all of the games you've mentioned there.

At the moment I'm playing a lot of Blitzkrieg Commander and Skyrealms of Jorune.

Yes, I'm a geek but I am at peace with my geekiness!

William Gibson reference, almost no one ever gets it. Burning Chrome is the book in which Gibson coined the phrase "cyberspace" and that is why I use it as a screen name on-line.

Traveller is my favorite RPG - for a long time I had a web site at Beowulfdown.net. I still own the domain but took the site down.

I also like D20 modern, very open engine D20.

MUDS and MOOS too much typing. Eveonline and WoW with VoIP is where I am at.

WoW here. Although I only use it to fill time, it hasn't taken over my life like a couple of my friends.

Every once in a while I still log on and play for a bit, but maybe 1-3 hours a week myself.

I'm a PSP player myself. The only computer game I play now is Street Fighter 4 every so often but mostly play my good ol' PsP.

I just was poking around and found my Illuminati game. this game was fun, and funny - I wish there was a Play-by-post version.

Maybe I should write an engine.

I quite like WoW and tried it once on an introductory offer. Problem for me was that it lacked a proper social aspect. You can't beat sitting round a table with some mates, a few cold cans of beer to add to the fun and just having a laugh. You just don't get that with computer RPG's.

Easiest way to try it out is to find a club. Your local games shop should carry adverts for them or at least know of some. That's how I started about 30 years ago :!:

Of course, there's also the internet as well. Many gaming clubs have websites and actively encourage new members.

With VoIP you can get there. My old RPG group from the Army play's WoW online and Never Winter Nights also. We landed at the 4 corners of the globe so this works out great. Sometimes we play traditional games using OpenRPG.

In fact, Never Winter Night's might be the best RPG engine ever for on-line play.
