Not that I really think it should matter, but my vote would go for NC as well. Western NC if you're into mountains, Eastern NC if you're into beaches.

        Good story Ainkor.

Thanks to those of you that recommend other states but I guess I need to mention that we are moving to Georgia for more than several good reasons. I even have a friend that wants to give me several beautifull acres in central Illinois but I have to decline, even if he wants to pay the real estate taxes for me. My wife and I have researched kentucky, tennessee, N and S carolinas, alabama, missouri and while they all each have their own advantages, its necessary that georgia is where we are moving. Hell we can't even stay in our home in illinois because of the cost of living and such. I've got a great home in Mesa Az [that I rent out to some old folks] but we are way too young to move there.....yet. Probably will never end up in Mesa. Too dam hot.

I can't believe that this thread actually has some posts.........thanks

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Good Luck on your move. Wish I was over there so I could come to the party.

I'm cringing, and hoping you like humidity. Even North Georgia is SWELTERING in the summer/fall/spring. To be honest, we have two seasons here in south Alabama- cool and freaking hot. And humid. But hey, welcome to the south Bird dude. Hope the move goes well

Well, PP, If you have family, I understand being by P'Tree.... otherwise, I wouldnt live there. When you get north of ATL, the humidity isnt bad at all and the winters are really tolerable....leaves change color and everything....south GA has no seasons....

We are thinking of selling our house and moving a little north of Braselton and just renting for a few years so we don't have to sell when we move permanently. I'm in Athens, (Where The University of Georgia is located), and it's ok, but I'm getting too old for the atmosphere. Let me know if you need any help moving or anything, I know you have had some health issues, and I'll be more than happy to give you a hand.

Thanks for the offer Condor. I'm playing the actual moving part out by ear. I'll have time to move as I will probably be having a barn built before we move down. My BIL in Peachtree has a crew that I can pay [cheap] to help unload and set up. Moving the househod stuff isn't a problem..........its all the big walk-in cages and other breeding equipment and supplies that makes it alot of work. All in time...........

The problem is that beside moving the household I also have to move my parrot breeding and research facilities. Thats a big job. But the time is getting close. I have spent all week going thru stuff and getting things ready to move although we haven't found a place thats "perfect" yet. I am hooked up thru a realtors website so I can get all the info thru the internet. This is alot of work. What a week of throwing crap out and organizing, giving crap away on craigs list, Goodwill, etc. I'm so tired.
I just wanted to give the members in Georgia fair warning that I should be moving there before too long. I'm looking forward to matbe having a get SnusOn members together when I get down there. PP
I'm in Arkansas, but I'm sure I could venture over for a get together

                    UPDATE............finally.

After 2 years of throwing crap out, selling stuff, organizing things, and fixing and updateing this old house. Too much dam work....................

I listed this property yesterday and the freakin signs are up. FINALLY!!

We needed 2 signs because this property is on a corner, and its heavily wooded, and you couldn't see either sign from both streets.

Leaving Athens? Why? I know it's a younger crowd but I would give anything to stroll up to gylands or go see the Panic at the GA theater.. I love that place!!
