    Your screen name/avatar - meaning?

i thought i'd start this because i see alot of names/pics i'm like "wtf?" about, so why did you choose your avatar/screenname?

Screenname - my name's Chad, and I've had many nicknames over the years, and this is one i've had for a LONG time, i think I had it on AIM when i was like 14, so it's just stuck. it's associated with so many accounts now i just use it for everything.

Avatar - that's the mascot i had at snubie.com - I just decided to keep it for myself, i like it.

Screen name - uh, I have a son who is a Marine and I am proud of him as well as thankful he made it home safe from Iraq. He is also a cop so when his reserve duty is over, I am going to change it to ProudPopOfACop.

Avatar - don't have one because I can't find a photo small enough. On the other two forums I am a member of have higher pixels. Any help on how to make the photos fit would be appreciated.

It's my first and middle name put together  I use sheilalynn on a couple of forums, and "thechixor" for Facebook/Twitter/etc. The avatar is me holding a nice little 6 1/2 foot male red tail boa named Roosevelt...don't ask me about that, he's not mine so I have no idea why the guy named him that :P

Sundogs have always been a good omen for me, hence the name.

Let's just say I *REALLY* like snus!

Oh yeah, and Einstein is here to keep me company and give me hope when I'm grading miserably bad math tests.

ProudMarineDad- I want to extend a big thank-you and welcome home to your son for serving his country!!

Sagedil comes from my usenet warz days in the late 90's. I was Dilettante then, but shortened to Dil among freinds. My last year, things had grown hot and I stopped posting software under my nym. Started using spice names...Rosemary, Sage, Fennel, etc. Since my nickname among friend was Dil, those that needed to know always knew if they saw a Spice name posting, it was me.

End of 99 was right when websites starting requiring registration. My name is super duper common. But put sage and dil together, I had something I knew no one else of the billions that would come to the net would ever use.

Have used it ever since everywhere I am on the net. Just huge believer that you shouldn't change names. i stand by anything I have posted this past 10 years. I am sagedil and he is me.

Avitar was originally done with a software program I found on the net a few years ago that maps to your own picture, control over where eyes, nose, mouth, etc. is. Then turns your picture into art. Current version took that image, then ran through a program that was popular after the election to create your own "Obama" like campaign image.

Use same Avitar on my motorcycle forum, and any other forum I might join. Again, I am consistent across any presence I have on the net.

All my old friends have called me Roo since I moved to Seattle in 94 and started 10th grade. A guy who was into hip hop and Gang Starr in particular took my name Jered and started calling me Jeru Tha Damaja (after the rapper). Glad that didn't stick. Jeru stuck for a minute, then, to my approval, I've been known as Roo ever since. I have no real attachment to my given name. I respond to a lot of different nicknames. The avatar I would say reflects that I'm a bit of a Sinophile. Headed there for maybe the 7th time next week, studied Chinese in college, and love kung fu.

Mine's my gaming name I started play UT2k4 with. I'm now Zoë(Co30) in game.

ProudMarineDad... You can resize images in a image editing program. I suggest Paint.NET. It's like MS Paint on steroids, and nicely bridges the gap between Paint and Photoshop. You need the ,net framework installed which you can get free from MS. The actual program can be found here...

Name: It comes from the nickname given to Marines who obtain the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant, the highest rank an enlisted Marine can achieve while still working within his MOS and not moving to a staff position.
I'm a college kid, so I'm not nor ever was a Master Gunnery Sergeant. I was in Marine Corps JROTC during High School and was part of a commissioning program for a year and a half but walked away before I could earn my bars.
I was really into Halo during High School and one of the characters at the beginning of Halo 2 is called Master Guns. I thought it sounded pretty cool, I was in ROTC, and I needed a handle for XBox Live, so I adopted that one. If I ever have to add numbers they're 2077. See avatar explanation for that.
Avatar: I'm a Fallout 3 buff. In the game 2077 is the year the world was "consumed in atomic fire". After I fell in love with that game I feel in love with just about any Post-Apocalyptic literature/movie I could get my hands on. The whole "normal people gone mad" survival thing fascinates me.
ProudMarineDad, OORAH! Tell your son welcome home from all of us! He's gotta be one tough SOB serving abroad and at home! You have every reason to be proud of him.

Thanks. For his recreation, he wrestles, er I mean rassles in a small local wrestling show. Jeez, I wish he liked softball or basketball. I just thought I had been around rednecks until I went to one of his shows. Makes my family look like Shakespeare readers.
