Online only, just like borderlands (group of 4 people can play co-op), no split screen.
One of the saddest things in gaming is that they've done away with the split screen multiplayer. I used to play splitscreen on a 25 inch television, and now that I have this giant 60 in flatscreen the game world has gotten rid of split screen now that I finally have enough room...
I completely agree! I love split screen. Wish more games had it.
Sounds good, ill have to give it a try. Is it split screen co-op. or just online?

So after much searching I was able to pick up one of the last copies of Dead Island to seemingly exist in Northern California.
I only played it for a few hours, . First of all, IT IS NOT FALLOUT 3 WITH ZOMBIES as IGN put it. IGN and anyone else who says this clearly did not play fallout 3.
That being said, here's how it went: At first I was like "meh it's kind of like borderlands but with zombies". It's mainly fetch missions where you get your quest on one side of the map, then go to the other side of the map to fetch it whilst slaying Zombies on the way there. This was kind of dissapointing at first, but i'll tell you I stayed up till 1 am playing it and was like "**** just one more, just one more". It actually grew on me quite a bit.
Leveling is good and you have a skill tree you can use to upgrade your various attributes and gain new skills etc, most of the weapons are melee weapons, though guns do exist, and overall I would say the game is worth the money. Keep in mind that I am still on the first level pretty much so I havn't really gotten a chance to see the whole game.
It plays sort of like borderlands, but with zombies. FPS, vehicles, points fly out of enemies as you kill them, you spend it on a skill tree, and lots of fetch missions, so same basic concept as borderlands. I'll leave it at that. Worth the money, but nothing too special. It's best played co-op, though I hate playing co-op in games. Would recommend to those who liked borderlands. (Note: is not quite as good as borderlands though).

A lot of gaming snusers 'round here.
But as my Danish friend's Norwegian (Xbox-live) friend said ; "You know what the best thing in the world is?" "No?" "Snus while gaming! It's amazing!" (Well my friend's response was "OH GOD THEY'RE EVERYWHERE, DAMN SNUSERS"- but we leave that out)
If this is, oh I dunno, maybe a marketing gimmick whereby they have purposely reduced supply in order to increase damnd, than they can go eat a dick.
If I know my marketing, and I do, it is surely a marketing gimmick. Or they just underestimated the success(But I doubt it, printing copies is cheap).
Anyways it's probably their fault.
Re: Dead Island. So I went to buy it since I keep hearing "It's like Fallout 3 with zombies", and it turns out it has been sold out at every single video game store in the tri-city area (including toys r us, wal mart, best buy, gamestop etc) for the past 3 weeks.
I don't think Oblivion was even sold out for 3 weeks, what gives?

Id like to take a moment to recognize daruckis for starting this most awesome of threads that has lasted 100 pages!
Dead island looks fun, and i normally really like open games like this, but the zombie thing is kind of played out. I think ill wait on it too. Plus im still enjoy Deus Ex at the moment. Ive already requested my vacation days for when skyrim comes out too
Has anyone played "Dead Island"? I hear it's like fallout 3 with zombies. Can anyone confirm that it's like an RPG in an open world or if it is any good?
from what I understand, there's alot of strategy in the game. I think it's like Fallout 3 in that it's an open free roaming world. You can customize your weapons and vehicles. You have to rest at times. Like if you have an ax, and you swing and swing, and fight and chop, you need to rest before you run.
It's had mixed reviews. Some sites give it an average score mostly saying, "Meh." Other sites like joystiq are pretty hard one it:
Though the zombie apocalypse may occasionally be grimly satisfying or fleetingly triumphant when you survive another night, there's one thing it almost certainly won't be.
Fun.
Me? I haven't played it yet. The trailer was breathtaking. I'll pick it up when it's $15 at Gamestop, but right now I have 0 interest in paying $60 for it or even playing it.
