I watched all 7 seasons on Netflix after someone posted a clip of it here on snuson (The Randy cheesburger whore one). Now I am so pissed that I want to go to the UN with a sign that says "BRING BACK TRAILER PARK BOYS" and riot in the streets of Geneva until my demands are met. Probably go kick Blizzard in the nuts on my way there for this whole Diablo 3 thing as well.

I bought the game at 6pm today. It's now 10pm and the server has been down the whole time, save for 1 hour. I can't even play single player this whole time. And best of all is that you lose your progress in single player when their servers go down. I am so pissed. I am thinking of getting a refund.

I only play single player usually, and stay away from MMO's or COD kind of games, but now I can't even enjoy that.

And you know what compounds this whole fiasco? I JUST finished watching the last season of Trailer Park Boys yesterday so I was already pissed, and now this... God damnit.

I'll probably end up getting this as I absolutely love[d] Diablo II, although I hate the way that publishers, are they actually the ones behind it?, are implementing their anti-piracy measures. Why should I have to be online to play a game that I "purchased" for the single player campaign? Another issue of mine. If I remember correctly, the way that the TOS are set up, you don't actually own the game you shell out 50 plus dollars for, you're just renting it.

I'm mainly into the single-player aspect of games and the increasing restrictions on offline playability are really irritating. Despite how much I may love the franchise, it can be hard to justify a "purchase" of a current generation release of long loved and played games.

Okay, so I got Diablo III today since i've been waiting for this game for like a decade.

The game itself is fun, graphics are decent, story is what you'd expect from Diablo (Missions are usually along the lines of: "Hurry, RANDOM MAGICAL ITEM will help us defeat INSERT TERRIBLE CREATURE, you must go to INSERT NEW PART OF MAP and recover it!"

Anyways, I am only an hour into the game. The game itself is worth the money and is pretty much like an upgraded version of Diablo II.

Here is the kicker, the kick you in the nuts kicker of the year: They have decided to mitigate piracy and hackers (like the kind that ruined diablo 2) by requiring you to be online and by running everything server side. Everything, items dropped, monsters spawned, your inventory etc is all hosted on their servers.

This poses some issues and some benefits:

Issues:

* You must be on-line to play even single player mode
* You are at the mercy of their servers. I.e., I was just playing for an hour and it said "servers are full, connection lost" in the middle of my game and now I can't play any more until the server load goes down.
* This was the most pre-ordered game in history so all day long everyone has been trying to play it, most people spent more than 2 hours this morning just trying to get past the character selection screen because the servers have been loaded all day.

Benefits:

*Hackers can't edit spawn rate or make monsters drop legendary weapons, throwing off the balance of on-line co-op or the exchange.
*This will be near impossible to crack/pirate because, again, everything is generated on their servers, so someone would have to set up a pirate server to emulate theirs and allow you to connect to it, and it would have to perform all the functions of managing your inventory etc. So this won't likely be pirated much, which is a benefit to the company and probably sets a bad precedent for the industry if successful.

The exchange you say? That's right, you can pay money to purchase items, or you can trade with others online for rare items you've found or want. You don't have to spend money, but you can, and it will break the game since it makes random drops irrelevant as everything dropped will be weaker than the weapons you bought. This is another reason why this is a game where you must be on-line to play. Since money is involved in the exchange, they don't want hackers gaming the system and getting rare items and messing up the exchange.


So anyways, great game, but I am really pissed that it randomly disconnects you (losing your progress of course) at random intervals. I have been playing for an hour so you would think my spot on the server was secured, but apparently not as I have now been kicked and I can't play any more this evening. Very upset.

It is launch day today though, so the server issue will calm down in the coming days, but still it's a bitch.

well, i finished the first disk, at the end of which he shaves his head. combat just doesn't feel smooth. everything done in this game has been done better in other games long ago. eerily similar to the kayne and lynch series, which also sucked.

Third Max Payne totally raped the main character.
Isn't it now a big bulky guy with shaved head, huge muscles and a minigun, blasting away at some Spanish vacation site?

it won't be in stores for a few days. 15th i think. i'm not far enough into it to make a call, but i'm not blown away. maybe i need to get used to the controls. so far; lots of cut-scenes and generic gunplay.

3rd in the series, probably won't be anything new or special. Max Payne was cool when it came out because it had bullet time, but I doubt they did anything groundbreaking for the new version. Let me know how it goes.

Max Payne 3 is out? I remember when the first one came out, was a great game. Is 3 any good? I'm gonna go get that right now.

decent. slow-mo x-ray kills are pretty cool. quite satisfying to shoot a man in the penis at 300m slow-mo. thing that bothers me most is the locked in 3rd person perspective over the right shoulder. you should be able to switch sides. makes some things awkward like sneaking up on the right side of an open doorway.

Yah I only played the first few levels. It seemed like an okay game. I agree that the highlight is when it shows the animation of the xray-testicle-explosion shots.

I still play Diablo II every once in a while. One of the first games I got on PC, along with SimCity. Lately I've been playing Mass Effect 2, Gears of War 2, and Call of Duty 2; all on xbox as my graphics card died not long ago.

I'm playing Sniper Elite v2 now and it's pretty cool. I am still at the beginning though. Definitely seems like a good game.
