I went back and read the thread that KarlvB referenced in his post above. Now apart from the event last week, which is unrelated to what I am about to say, I cannot help but wonder if the pissiness reported on in the other thread has to do with the general climate in this country (all politics aside). We all need to be aware that things are much tenser and much more depressing today than they were a year or so ago (regardless of which party you think is to blame). For example before posting here today I spent 3 hours on the phone with my mortgage company (for the third day in a row) because of a mistake they made and ended by calling my lawyer to go knock some heads. Utter and needless crap. I have two friends who are about to lose their jobs because of cutbacks and I really feel for them. And so on and so on. It’s all over the place and it touches us all both directly and indirectly
My point is that we need to be aware of how much this general tension creeps into our own daily lives- not just regarding this forum but with respect to things like our general frame of mind, our relationships and marriages. There is a palpable weight and concern all about us that we all are dealing with even when we don’t realize it. Thing are going to be a bit tense for a while. Just knowing that may help at least somewhat and may explain a bit of the change that our old timers are pointing out regarding the forum.
Just my 2 cents worth
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers
Nice posts snusdog. I completely missed whatever happened, but I think I get the idea. Just don't know who was involved. Doesn't matter. This forum is great. Then again, I don't know any better. And I post annoying and drunk and profane stuff sometimes. My apologies to anyone who has been offended. Thanks Pris, I agree with Snuffy, take a break, come back, and in the meantime, know your efforts are appreciated. ~ Roo
pris, everyone, i apologize if i am a part of any problem described in this thread. i looked for the rules here a while back, and found none. i guess the rules here are the rules of this wonderful, great community. all of you have helped me quit smoking, and i owe you. big time.
don't stay away too long pris, we need an eyeball on here while we make each other laugh and complain of what ails us and sometimes vent. nothing is perfect in life except maybe the plan that put all those stars in the sky.
I got a little bent at one of the other "members" the other night. The member wasn't real, and I only regret what I said for the innocents that may have happened across it. Usually I try not to engage in ridiculousness, but I couldn't help myself that time. My apologies to any of you who may have been offended by my post :^)
Ok.......lots of great posts that make alot of sense here. However, I only saw a little problem last week and must I have missed any big blow-up. So I'm not sure what happened. Its the internet. Crap happens. And I agree, Pris take a break if you need one. We really appreciate your input so please come back when you are ready. Sometimes I wish I could drink. I would love to post drunk.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
Have I missed something? It seems to me that the drama of last week is over and things are back to normal around here. Event with the events of last week, this forum is the best one that I've ever been a member of. I think there are a lot of helpful, good natured folks on here. If you need a break Pris, that's fine, but don't let a few idiots run you away from something if you enjoy it otherwise.
Hey will someone please teach me and Snusdog how to quote? We don't understand how to make it say "Snusdog wrote:" Always makes me feel dumb when a 1st time poster gets it just right. Is the technique I'm missing commonly used on all forums? I use a computer like a 6 year-old fist fights. Thanks
Simply go to the post you want to quote ond click on "QUOTE" on the top right of that post. When the page comes up insert you comment under the quote. Its so easy even I figured it out.............

See that Quote button on the upper right corner of my post? Click that ;^)
You can edit the quote as needed after you do that. It helps to keep quote size down. Huge nested quotes are irritating.
You guys are geniuses  Thanks. I always tried to use the quote button above the message body field then paste what I was trying to quote... ops: Fail.
