Age of Snus Users and flavored vs. natural

    Hi all,

So i've been reading alot of garbage lately about how Anti-Tobacco people think that flavored products lure children to nicotine like candy. I have also read arguments about how the discrete nature of snus allows little children to keep a portion in during math class...

Reading on this forum however there don't seem to be too many teens, as many seem to have made the switch to snus after years of smoking.

After answering this poll (please do guys it makes the thread more educational) indicate if you predominately use flavored or natural snus.

***Disclaimer: I know I have alot of "weird" threads/polls up but this is simply b/c I am curious about the world of Snus and its constituents. I spend my breaks inbetween studying on this forum. I am in no way, shape or forum collecting data for a paper or anyother form of research (not that it would be statistically accurate anyway...) I am also not a tobacco representative disguised as a snuser trying to get an inside. Just a lowly medical student with a new home and new interest in Snus...***

I'm 40. I'm not a huge fan of flavored snus. They're ok, but I prefer more natural flavors. I prefer herbal flavors, and not fruit. Licorice, anis, and juniper are favorites of mine, and I also like bitter citrus like bergamot, and orange peel type flavors.

Yea, I didn't see a way to edit the poll either :^D

I'm 20. I prefer the "pure tobacco" type brands like Ettan and Grov. When I go "flavored" I really like the Gotlands products. Yellow is my favorite, but Grey and Green are also wonderful. Knox is also a favorite of mine. I like it much better than the Skruf brands.

I think most snus is flavored to some degree. I don't think you can draw a line between natural and flavored.

I was just trying to figure out if flavored is more for newer people getting into Snus or something that is favored among the younger population.

I too (in my very limited experience) like both flavored and natural however I am finding that I increasingly need to be in the mood for flavored whereas I could go for a natural Snus anytime

            I'm 36.

All snus is flavored, but the ones I consider flavored have a flavor written on the label. I believe the only flavored snus I am currently using is Skruf Tranbar. So I basically am using snus that has tobacco as the dominant flavor. I did order a can of Thunder Frosted, but I haven't tried it yet.

You've heard of Ensure haven't you?
              http://ensure.com/products/index.aspx

It comes in: Rich Dark Chocolate, Homemade Vanilla, Creamy Milk Chocolate, Strawberries and Cream, Butter Pecan, Coffee Latte

Adults like flavors too. I hate that "it's flavored, it must be for the kids" argument.

Kids like flavors, so do women, so do adults who have destroyed their sense of taste after 20 years of smoking. I'm 52 and I like the more natural flavors but I like to add in a LD Black or Thunder Frosted for variety from time to time.

I am 35 and prefer the the more tobacco predominate snus. If there is any flavor i prefer the more subtle bergamot and other "herbal" type flavors. Even when i was a teen i preferred the straight or classic types. Never really been one for strongly flavored tobacco products. I did, however order a can of the Thunder Frosted to see what the hype was about!

I'm 41. I prefer Ettan/Granit/General type flavors. But I like anything but licorice and mint.

I started smoking because of the "cool" factor not the pretty packages. I started dipping because most of my friends did it. I grew up outside of a small town and most of us boys spent time working on a farm or in the woods, neither place goes well with smoking, so dip was in. I think I gravitate towards the more tobacco flavored snus simply because I dipped Copenhagen for 15 years. Hated Skoal and totally avoided the really sweet stuff like Gold River. Choices were more limited then. Most places had maybe 10 types of dip.

Crap, 10 types? When I first used dip, you had a choice of Copenhagen, Skoal, Happy Days mint, and Happy Days Raspberry. I used the Skoal, and carry a hatred of wintergreen and tobacco to this day :^D

For those less than 18 that use Snus:

What was your first tobacco product?

Why did you start using snus?

How frequently do you use snus?

We had Gold River, Silver Creek, Skoal, Cope, Kodiak, WE Garrett. A couple of smaller brands I forget, than a few types of chew. Red Man, Beech Nut, Levi.

Yes, I still hate wintergreen also. I tried General Wintergreen and it brought back bad memories. Good snus, bad for me.

                            1. first tobacco product, must been L&M red. Started smoking allmost 3 years ago (12 when started <.<, too young).

                            2. I wanted to save my lungs, I mean im growing still and snus is less harmful and better choice for me, specially because my mother hates the smell of cigarettes. ; )

                            3. Allways when I can buy snus. At the moment 1 can per week. : (
But it will all change for a while if I can get my camera sold. 200E and visit to Sweden.
