We seem to be a pretty diverse group on here, thought it may be interesting.

I am an episcopalian. The episcopal (anglican) denomination is, I find, a nice middle way between the protestant and catholic traditions. I particularly appreciate the emphasis that the episcopal church places on reason as one of the three components of the faith (the other two being the gospel and tradition).

What I believe can be found in the Nicene Creed.

I used to be an episcopalian, actually was baptized Church of England but switched to the episcopalian church when I moved to the U.S. That was all before I discovered Zod. Even although I was never a believer and was skeptical even as a boy I do have some fond memories of the church.

I don't believe it's as faith-based as religion. If someone told you there was flying pink elephants, you wouldn't say "maybe, maybe not, but I won't put my belief in it" you would say "no there isn't". God is not a special case for belief, so I say there is no god.

I was baptized Lutheran, but it was mostly out of family tradition. My parents never forced it on me. My upbringing was essentially non-religious.

As far as my personal beliefs go, I'm agnostic. I used to be an atheist until I realized that atheism is just as faith based as Christianity. I'll never know for certain if there is or isn't a god, so I make no claims to know. The universe is a mysterious place. I'm content just to exist within it.

My father is actually a Baptist preacher; independent fundamentalist to be exact, so he is pretty hardcore. I spent most of my life going to church, but I resisted every step of the way. I could not and still cannot tolerate the pretentious and pompous nature of organized religion.

Yeah, seems the West lost touch with spirit long ago. I'm hoping it comes back, because I feel it's necessary to balance out the material side of things and help us take the next step in our intellectual evolution.

Was raised atheist/humanist/free-thinker. I outgrew atheism a few years ago and am now actively unaffiliated, and try to absorb as much as I can from all systems of belief that have important things to share.

Not Christianity as viewed by most. Christianity is the west I feel is about as real a religion as believing that your peanut butter and jelly sandwich is the anti-christ.

Raised Presbyterian/Methodist, have been a confirmed athiest for decades now.

I am more of a personally spiritual person. I don't have much use for organized religion. I believe there's a higher power out there, just not sure what or who it is. But I was raised strict Southern Baptist, not much fun!

My religious views are best summed up as "I don't care". Imo, there's as much point speculating on religion, as there is speculating about how many fairies dance between the raindrops during a storm.

Raised Jewish, became "born again" when I was 16, but pushed away from the church in my early 20's (seemed folks thought my South Africa activism was against God, since everyone knew that if the vile Apartheid regime fell, then communism would obviously follow)

Didn't talk with God for 15 years or so, then read Traveling Mercies by Ann Lamott, hugely moved by it and started a dialogue with him again.

But even more disgusted with organized religion today then i was when i was younger. So will very reluctantly admit to being a Christian, but disagree vehemently with how most so called Christians here in the states go about everything.
