    GA "Redneck" asks about knives...

So I have a Kershaw Vapor (straight blade) that goes everywhere with me. I can't even tell you how often I find a use for it during my day. I love it dearly and am definitely not looking to replace it, but it's lonely. My second child needs a brother (or brothers).

I'm not really sure what I want to get next, though. I'm thinking a least one needs to be a folder; not that I'm against a fixed blade, but they aren't as everyday portable, and don't get received as well in public. I'm looking at a Benchmade possibly, since they have tons of selection and seem to be very high quality.

Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions from my 'baccy brethren. What do you guys like? Any suggestions or advice is welcome.

Gotta agree with Condor. Benchmade is made of win, awesomeness, and wall shaking sheet grabbing sex.

I've always been partial to Benchmade.

My last few have been in this series. The one in this link is on deck for me to buy (since my last one got stolen a few months back)

Benchmade! They have different levels of pricing. Main differences are where they are made, steel and maybe fit and finish. Everything from a $25 dollar Pika ( which is in my pocket now.), made in china, to USA made autos for $300. If they don't have what you need Kershaw and Spyderco both make excellent knives also.

I've had a kershaw chive for about three years now. It's my everyday use blade, but it's a bit smaller than the one you have now if you're looking for another.

Yeah, mine's a 3 inch blade, and I wouldn't mind going up to almost 4", but I don't want to flirt with the tool/weapon border since I make no effort to conceal my knife. It pretty much rides in my key pocket on my jeans.

And as far as purpose goes, I do a lot of rope cutting, zip tie cutting, and that sort of duty. Probably why I'm partial to a straight blade. I'm also probably getting a Benchmade rescue hook for each of my cars. That's the sort of thing you hope you never use, but would suck to be caught without.

So long as it is a folder, it is considered a tool unless it is used as a weapon. You will never get shit for having a "weapon" for just having it clipped into your pocket.

I agree, the best $25 I spent on a trance with black Handle & blade, combo edge (serrated on one side) with a 2.75" blade. Not the best knife, but awesome for the money.

Spyderco makes a good knife. i have an auto opener Boker that i have had for years and i have gotten a lot of use out of it. I fancy myself a tanto point guy... I have a magazine at home that has a list of new knives, and most of them are folders.... ill look and see if theres anything interesting
