Empire of the Sun is an amazing moving. Bale does an amazing job for being so young.

          Enemy at the Gate?

Really, no one likes this movie, I think it is one of the best ones ever.

Band of Brothers is a great series. For movies...

-Underworld is pretty damn cool if that counts; it is a war between species. And Kate Beckinsale in a skintight PVC catsuit in a corset. With guns. C'mon, need I say more?

-Saving Private Ryan - The opening scene is epic, along with the rest of it.

-Blackhawk Down - One intense movie.

-Platoon - Of all the Vietnam movies this is the best in my book.

-Das Boot - A very memorable movie.

-Tears of the Sun - Not on a war, but it involves SEALs and Bruce Willis doing what he does best.

Saving Private Ryan could have been the best war movie of all time. Realistic and authentic. But, Spielberg had to let his loathing of Nazis take the story line over the top. Also, I think they could have killed off the characters commensurate with the average attrition rate after D-Day. Not practically ever single one of them.

I just watched Uncommon Valor. While pathetic and at points laughable war movie it was entertaining. Not a very good performance from Gene Hackman.

Spielberg has certain, shall we say, "overriding interests" that made that movie into nothing more than an over-the-top and crude propaganda piece.

                    A few good war movies:

                    Joyeux Noël (WWI)
                    Stalingrad (WWII)
Gettysburg (The War of Northern Aggression)

I don't think it qualifies as a movie since it was an HBO series with each part an hour long about. I counted it as a separate thing from my movies. The series is pretty awesome, though.

It's hard to make a bad one, isn't it?

There may be slow war movies, poorly written war movies, or poorly directed war movies but it so hard to really make a bad one (unless it is the "THE THIN RED LINE" remake).

                                "Look, they're taunting us!"

"One man take the rifle, one takes the clip. When one man falls take the other."

"Enemy at the Gate" is an awesome movie!
                                "ZULU" is another overlooked classic!
