A hot dog has nothing on a proper sausage sandwich UK stylee ... because German style sausages used in hotdogs are massively inferior to a good old meaty English banger. Why? Because a decent english sausage actually contains proper pork meat that you can taste - massively at odds with any wiener, frankfurter or bratwurst that is a disgusting combination of mechanically recovered meat and fat in an edible plastic skin.

    Recipe:

2 thick hand cut slices of crusty white farmhouse bread
2 cumberland sausages (links) cut in half lengthwise and fried that way
    Lashings of HP brown sauce

spread the sauce on the bread - line up the sausage halves in the bread - close and cut in a triangular fashion - enjoy ... that my friends is a snack to grace any sports field!

Sorry squeezy, but I'm gonna have to call you out on that one. Bangers are great dinner food, but they lack the herbs (and frankly, the grease) that defines bar food at its finest.
America sees England's sandwich and raises you a pair of beef brats on potato buns, pan fried, with dijon mustard and sauteed peppers and onions.
      Let the games begin!

        ...and sauerkraut.

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

Anyone who puts ketchup on a hotdog should be strung up and their balls used as a pinata

Pouch face - you don't know what you're talking about! If you've ever fried a good quality Cumberland sausage then you'll know just how much grease is involved ... And they're stuffed full of herbs like sage, black pepper and cloves. Whereas the hotdog sausage is the lowest possible quality meat mixed with starch, salt and artificial smoke flavouring ...

And I enjoyed reading your post immensely as I mis-read the word Bangers ... And believing you'd written "Badgers are great dinner food" - wrong post :-)

Ketchup, mustard, relish, and onions are the only condiments that belong on a hot-dog!

Obviously, condiments are to personal taste like snus. In defense of hotdogs there are good quality dogs. I buy grassfed all beef hot dogs, a big difference from the commercial oscar meyer/ ball park variety which are full of cheap filler and who knows what else.

I am putting extra ketchup on my next hotdog and thinking happy thoughts! And yes, it may mask the very essence of cow anus that wants to shine through, but you can dress your wiener any way you want. I am sporting a quintasensual Chaquita look as we speak.

And there has been many a member here whom would argue that you should only slather your wiener with boybutter.
