    Time to say hello

Ok, so I've been lurking around here for a bit, and decided it was time to say hello. My name's Chris, and live in Iowa. I placed my first order with buysnus back in March (SM portion box) and have placed two orders since. I've moved quite easily to enjoying loose snus over portions, though I still pack like fove cans to work and back for sharing and sampling. I've had a couple of co-workers express an interest in my assortment, and gladly share the portions.

I took advantage of the free shipping from buysnus a bought the 3ml icetool and a mix roll of loose(my hand baking skills suck). Really enjoy the loose over portions, although portions are little more convenient for the nights out at the bar (damned new no smoking laws)

Anyway, I also enjoy smoking pipes and the occasional cigar, but snus has almost put me off these. Picked up cigs at the age of 17 (turn 38 in Sept.) and still enjoy the occasional cig (I'm not too hung up on stopping smoking altogether, but it's nice to have a little more control over it)

I've enjoyed the reviews posted here as they've helped me decide if I should throw a tin in my order or stay away from a flavor altogether.

    Hey Chris,

    Welcome aboard.

What sus do you like? have you dipped american chew before? Snus for me has been a major change to my life. I agree about the cigarettes. I just bought a pack of Davidoff for shits and giggles. If I never smoke again oh well if I do oh well. I at least know snus is there for me when I can't smoke. i personally have been suprised with the discrepency of taste between snus portions and los of the same brand. Hope you find what you like early and don't end up with the freezer full that some of us have.

      Welcome to the forum cwcov.

So what are your favorites so far? I came to snus about 17 months ago after reading about it in an article, then researching it. At the time, I just wanted something to tide me over at work. I was Supervising in a fund raising call center at the time, and didn't like how often I found myself leaving the floor for a cigarette. Wasn't really planning on quitting, but snus just came to be my preferred method of getting my nicotine rather quickly. I still have a cigarette every so often, and every few months, even buy a pack and smoke it over two days.

And bakerbarber, I LIKE having a freezer full of snus and every single one there is a favorite of mine. I have a stable of at least 20 different kinds I like to keep on hand. I long ago learned what I don't like. The 80 or so I have in my freezer right now just gives me a sense of comfort when I look at them. Except when I keep knocking some out trying to get at the little bit of food I still keep in there.

For portions, I like : Ettan, Knox, Grov, Got. yellow (a lot), Got. green (a little), Got gray (not as much, yet. I know tastes change), Lucky Strike, General (a little spicy, but it was the second tin I opened), Probe (really liked, but not for everyday), Kronan and a few others.

For los I really liked the RL that was my first adventure to los and hand baking. When I opened a can of Grov, I found that los leaves portions in the dust for taste. Had a can of Kronan that had a chip missing from the lid, so I'm not sure the quality was there.

I haven't delved into the offroad selections yet, but I won't shy away from them now.

Really there is just too much out there to really settle on a couple of brands, but I look forward to filling my fridge with as many favs a possible (think I just heard my wife frown from the other room).

The only ones that were a miss for me were the Elyxers (orig and peppermint) and they really didn't miss by much.

          bakerbarber -

yes i have dipped off and on since high school, and most recently used skoal bandits and occasional cope pouches. once i got my first shipment of snus in, I sold of my last to tins of bandits to a fellow at the bar I knew would put them to use. I know I was done with them. I did later get a bandit off a co-worker whom i was introducing to snus, and took the darned thing out after five minutes.

            cwcov,

You didn't like Elyxr??? The tragedy I say. If you read some old friend, you will find that I am the official Ambassador of Elyxr. Oh, I think it tastes like a**, but thre is nothing like it to get my day started and has freed me from having to track down coffee first thing in the morning. In fact, I often don't have my first cup of the day until evening. With my caffeine addiction, that never would have been possible without the Elyxrs. So I sing their praises up and down, but must say, I am a mostly lonely voice around here.

Your choices so far a great, very traditional. Definitely try out a few white versions though. Some don't like them much, but over my 17 montsh of using snus, I have largely gravitated towards them as well. And you simply must try Nick & Johnny, a favorite of a very many folks around here.

Most people hate Offroad. It typically has this strange, chemical taste to it. I kind of have a soft heart for it, as when I first started using, the strong versions of that was all I bought for a month or so, as I needed the extra nic hit and it was cheap. But it largely sucks compared to the rest of snus.

Enjoy your wonderful world of discovery. Even today, 17 months later, I still get a thrill out of snus. As I have posted elsewhere, I get all tinglt every time I go to Buysnus to place a new order and rip the packages open like it's Christmas day when they arrive.

never had the energy elyxr, but did sample the original and the peppermint. Of course I wasn't too fond of energy drinks at all, until I started working night shift. (6pm till 6am). Guess that explains why I'm still up @ this time. I'm waiting to go to bed.
