In a way it is Facebook with less clutter and less moving cheese, especially when it comes to privacy concerns. I find it useful for keeping up with the things I want to keep up with as well as having a far superior mobile interface than Facebook so it is a great way to quickly update people on things. But you must keep it brief due to the character limit. But seeing the way Facebook posts are going that is actually a good thing.
