Tea drinkers - I've found something good.

Twinings English Breakfast sweetened with sugar in the raw. Good stuff, but it brews really quickly. Don't let it brew a second over 2mins 30sec.

If you llke the twinnings Breakfast you need to try Two leaves and a Bud Assam Breakfast. It's really good and they use a mesh filter or sacht as they call it and it is whole tea not crushed up dust. You can actually see how the buds bloom. Truly awesome tea. http://www.twoleavestea.com/p_Organi...eakfast-2.html Oh and we have another or two tea threads around here.....

English Breakfast is a bit robust for my tastes. My technique for a single cup is to put a bag in(or loose as the case may be), and leave it in the whole time I'm drinking it. The English gets too strong for me by the bottom on the cup. My standards are Earl Grey, and Irish Breakfast. Never cream or sweetener unless I'm making a chai.

Lol, we live in the world of Lipton dust tea bags and bottled Lipton sweet "tea". Half of that bottled crap isn't even really brewed tea. It's just tea flavored.

I am currently mixing my own blend (I call it Islay Breakfast)

              1 part Assam

              1 part Yunnan Black

              1/2 part Lapsang Souchong

              all los by the way

I get mine from the teaspot.......best assorment of loose and a best over all price
              http://theteaspot.com/

I also love Pu'erh (malty and creamy smooth)

all with cream and a wee bit of sugar
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Seriously guys - If you can get a hold of some simple English PG Tips I can highly recommend them. Brew them for a good couple of minutes and it's delicious - but this is bog standard tea for us.
                That Twinings stuff is awful.

I have a bunch of PG Tips in the cabinet. Still prefer Twinings Earl Grey and Irish Breakfast :^P

I'm not really a tea head. Coffee is my main hot drink by a long shot. I drink the occasional tea to change things up though. I also drink a bunch of iced tea. Usually half real tea, and half herb tea for flavoring.

I don't. Always black except for chai.

The PG I think would be too strong and dry without milk.

I do find it a bit strong. My preferred method for the PG is to use a pyramid bag in a small pot. That comes out to a pretty good strength for me. A flat bag in a cup ends up being too strong.

I can't get PG tips here without ordering, but I can get Tetley. Is it any good?

you do realize that none of our UK members are responding to your post.............because they are laughing too hard at us Americans to type (except for Extreme...who is Irish.....and so has passed out by now......

and to answer............NO............ Tetley will not do.....unless you are making iced tea.....then it is really good

find some los tea (teaspot.com)..............a tea sock.....or a French press coffee pot (works great)........or a tea pot with a mesh basket (I got a one on ebay for $10)

get cream or half-n-half (no milk for a good tea)

                              and sugar

                              and try it

All said and done you will be out $25 buck for the pot and 1/4 pound of tea including shipping

You can get the teaspot's own English breakfast....or just straight Assam (the base tea of most black tea blends including Eng B)

Lapsang is a condiment leaf (like Latakia in pipe tobacco…you don’t want just it alone)

Pu'erh loose (not the bricks) would also be a great place to start....in fact for a stand alone tea....I would highly recommend this one

All of these are full bodies and are in keeping with the English breakfast “type” of tea
