One of these days I might explain why I'm so "fascinated" and "amused" by these drunken Brit videos. Until then, I'll just leave you guessing...

hahahaha no probs dude, I can find just as many drunken yank vids that are just as bad, n matter where you go, the underclass are always there with their bottled of WKD, cheap tabs and general scumness! lol

You can always find a good cask ale over here, its lager thats the issue, cask is safe, just not in every pub. If you are ever in Liverpool Jan, go to the Ship and Mitre, been CAMRA Pub of the year so many times they have lost count! The beer is excellent in there, but on the whole the pub is in serious decline all across the country Nasty chain places like Weatherspoons populated by chavs are taking over

Ale is far too heavy for casual drinking for me, plus it tastes like shit :-P

I was brought up to believe that lager is the beer for people who don't like beer (that's not true by the way ... some lagers/pilsners are full of flavour - just not the types you get in high street pubs!)

Seriously - don't dismiss ales out of hand ... there's just so much variety now - much more than with lager beers. It's trying them all that's the hard bit!

Its on Dale Street near the Mags court, there are plenty of god pubs in Liverpool though that are CAMRA rated so you aren't ever far from a good pint.

I have tried many just to see if any can sway me, alas I have only found one that I could drink if I was forced to. I spend that much time in germany with all the excellent beers there that I can be quite satisfied consuming that over ale, different strokes for different folks

I saw a great ad in a pub this afternoon......
'Check out our premium lager collection' - Grolsch 4% and San Miguel 5%. Ok fair does with the San Miguel but the Grolsch is a blatent lie as it's a watered down version of the beer that used to be sold under that name.
They also did Kronenbourg so I had that :-) .... I just hope they don't come up with a 'Krobenbourg Blonde' @ 4%

They did that a few years back, didn't sell but their premier cru was simply divine! Was on the proper sanny last night in the pub, John will be pleased to know I tried some of the micro brewery's ale and it weren't half bad.

Funny thing is in France a 'grande bier blonde' gets you a pint of Kroney 5% in most places. & it tastes better than it does here and has less 'hangover' effect.

Their kroney is much nicer for some reason, I remmeber two types, the 1664 and the stuff in a red can with red writing, that one was nicer still!

Their pump Kroney 5% was fantastic from what I remember, athough expensive as most things are in Paris :-)

On the subject of french beer, I once asked for a Kronenbourg in a bar in Paris, and the bloke looked at me like I was insane, so I pointed to the pump (clearly labelled "Kronenbourg"), and he went "Ahhhh, un seize soixante-quatre, monsieur."

Similarly, in a bar in LA I saw they had Kroney on tap, so asked the waitress for a Kronenbourg, and she came back with a bottle of Corona. Next time I asked for a 1664, and got one.
