Lager ABV In UK Pubs Falling?

You can always find a good cask ale over here, its lager thats the issue, cask is safe, just not in every pub. If you are ever in Liverpool Jan, go to the Ship and Mitre, been CAMRA Pub of the year so many times they have lost count! The beer is excellent in there, but on the whole the pub is in serious decline all across the country Nasty chain places like Weatherspoons populated by chavs are taking over

While we're on the subject of beer, can I ask you gentlemen (term used loosely of course)a question? I'm not very familiar with types of beer, styles, flavors, etc. Now, scotches and bourbons...I know, but beer...not so much.

While I was in Germany a couple weeks back, I decided that I'd drink only beer, since Germany is known for it's beers. I drank many, many different types of beer and in copious amounts. The odd thing for me was that I didn't ever "get drunk". Not that I was trying or anything, but based on the sheer volumes of beer, I'd normally be buzzing at least, but I never really "felt" it. Is the ABV lower in German beers?

Oh God no, the german beer is goos strong stuff, no messing about, it is pure, brewed to their purity law which is why you can enjoy it and not suffer many after effects, wheat beer though! Be near a toilet the next day!! lol
