I was just thinking the same thing! Most people are repulsed by stinky, salty fish in a tin. Then again, most people are repulsed by stinky, salty tobacco in a tin

I love sardines as well, I go through phases where I eat alot of them then don't have any for a few months. It's funny that so many of us on here like them so much.

Thanks to Aldi, Lidl and Eastern European shops variety is pretty good here now. I also have two fishmongers in walking distance.

KING OSCAR and baltic canned are my favorite. I stay away from anything that comes from Alaska or the Pacific. Straight from the can at 3am with no light is the best

Smoked oysters = pure win. I buy a few tins of them every week, and binge on them.

They are so big there are only 3 in a can usually (but the can is stuffed). I've also been getting the albacore and skipjack tuna of theirs and it's great. I really like smoked salmon as well but I'm a bit spoiled since my friend recently gave me a bunch he caught and smoked himself. Makes the store bought (even the hella expensive) ones kinda humdrum tasting.

My Mom went to Alaska about a year ago and brought me some awesome smoked canned salmon sockey wild caught, best I've ever had. I think it was pricey tho even in Alaska. If I'm remembering right it was captain Jim's brand. yeah it was after a quick google this is the stuff. http://riverboatdiscovery.com/Search...?CategoryID=44
I have a can left as I've been savoring it. I hope it shows up on Amazon cheaper some day.......
I have found that out too. Still have some cans of the pre-sauced stuff around though.

here are two great ways to have kippers eaten with a nice poached egg on top with bread and butter for teatime or supper, but i like them alot for breakfast with loads of hot buttered toast and orange marmalade, truely a food of the gods..

What is wrong with you people. Don't any of you know that sardines and kippers are to be eaten with hard cheese and Bermuda onions! Mustard and hot sauce are also required.

Sardines and kippers are one of my favourite snacks. I like them on saltines with a bit of plain ol' yellow mustard. I always take plenty camping for a source of protein. If I had to rely on fishing for food while camping I would go hungry.
