The UK learned pretty quick after Lockerbie and there were tonnes of hijackings before 9/11. That, Northern Ireland and the Cold War, things have been as tight as gnats chuff here for decades.

I think you are all missing the point. Before 911 no hijacker had ever rammed a 767 into a giant building. The usually blew the plane up. And while you can brag about how tight your security is, you can only hypothesize about how good it would have been in the same situation. A country killing its own citizens with only a guess about where a plane is heading.... well if you dont agree thats just bullshit, then you have not paid much attention to history. Most people would have an issue with that. Mountains of evidence would have to be provided to the public, and a video of one of the attackers outlining what he intended to do would have to play 24/7 on tv or you would have a section of you population go anti government. If it gets bad enough, then that is bad for any government. Still want to be in government? Yeah me neither. Thats why here in America only lying lawyers seem to have the stomach for it.
As I said now with all the hindsight, outcomes would certainly be different. I am certain if I had flown an ultralight gasoline powered kite over the Olympics I would have been terminated on the spot. But 15 years ago, I would have been on tv being arrested.

ONCE AGAIN in a thread I'm simply stating the way it is across the pond and the facts as they are known. It's not missing the point and it's certainly not bragging.
You can't have a conversation with you guys across the pond - seriously, it's a waste of f**king time.

If all Brits are as unreasonable as you basing nothing on fact and human nature and have no regard for human life, then I am highly inclined to agree with you. You brits are bad asses. I know you won ww2 all by yourselves, just ask anyone from Great Britain, our supplies and men where too late and were unnecessary, but I dont see you guys beating terrorism all by yourselves.
Lets just hope you don't have too.
Edit to add, in the interest of keeping the peace between us, I am not returning to this thread. I know we can never truly agree, so there is no further point. Let's all be friends ok?

Extreme, riddle me this. How would the British Airforce be able to scramble jets after a said airliner if the transponder was shut off?
Radar cannot determine an identity of a plane only it's relative position...

Also isn't it kinda strange that these attacks are always concurrent with some kinda "drill" that is happening at the same time. Correct me if I'm wrong but with the tube attacks in Brittain there was some sort of "training" thin going on just like 9/11...... I guess most of us would refer to it as running interference..... slight of hand if you will.......
I wasn't aware of some kind of training drill going on in London but I wouldn't be surprised as drills happen frequently. In fact something in my memory tells me you're right.

If you look at the timeline:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timelin...ber_11_attacks
From the time they first suspect hijacking of the first flight to the impact is just over 20 minutes, (30 minutes total from actual hijacking to impact)
NORAD was not notified till less than 10 minutes from the first impact.
Norad orders two f-15's into the air bound manhattan just 30 seconds before the first impact
Those f15's don't leave otis afb till just 5 minutes after the impact and about 10 minutes before the first impact. The standing orders for those planes is to intercept flight 11 which is the first plane, the pilots aren't aware that it has already crashed.
And here is the thing. Most AFB probably keep a place completely fueled and ready to go. But ready to go is still at least 10 minutes from being in the air. Considering the time window and the notification, unless the pilots were in the planes ready to taxi on to the runway that is pretty good.
