Oh I don't think you are giving them due credit considering they did this almost 10k years ago. I mean just understanding the math necessary to chart this thing out, and then not really having much of a literate population or anything but still pulling it off without slave labor is pretty damn impressive for the time period.

I thought last I heard the historians decided that slaves weren't the ones who built it due to the lack of labor camps etc? For some reason I recall hearing that it was just a big government project that paid people to do it and that slaves didn't play any significant role in it like was previously thought. Is that not true?

Well literally no, but figuratively yes as the subjects were required to participate in this homage to their holy ruler. Like the site precious linked states they were probably more peasant farmers from the kingdom than true captured against their will slaves. But in figurative terms they just about amounted to slave labor for this task.Originally posted by sgreger1I thought last I heard the historians decided that slaves weren't the ones who built it due to the lack of labor camps etc? Absolutely, pretty much every culture had slaves up until present day lol. There are in fact more slaves today than at any point in history, though that is only because the population has increased so one could say there are more X than any point in history for just about anything.Originally posted by precious007Were there slaves in the ancient Egypt?
Never heard of it.... maybe I'm wrong
But yah there were slaves in Egypt and all the surrounding areas as well.

In Romania NOBODY studies Ancient History at least not until college.
asking questions is ok IMO, no need to start questioning the Romanian Education system)

various forms of government?
I consider it useful for those that profit from it, otherwise just some basic knowledge would do.
I'm into completely different areas, history doesn't interfere with my activity by any means, even though I'd like to have the time to read more.
Especially roman empire history.

Do I even need to speculate whether or not you have read the Republic. It is amazing how someone of such self implied cognitive abilities admits to such ignorance as to the subject matters they wish to speak on.Originally posted by precious007various forms of government?

dude, you're taking it too far, I was asking some questions.
Apparently you have started to speak non-sense and attack the Romanian education system which in my opinion is lame.
I have no profit or interest in the educational system, so I could care more, I am not ignorant. I am realist. lmaoI feel like we are subsidizing the Romanian education system... all in this here forum...
