Does anyone know why they are dumping it? Does it suck? I don't even know anything about the touchpad.

It kind of sucks, especially compared to the competition. For ~$100, it's a good deal, especially for a non-techie. They aren't going to appreciate the finer details of more advanced devices, and will have fun with a nifty toy. For someone who IS a techie, it's a nice beater unit, or something to hack around with.

HP overpriced it, and near as I can tell, the leadership doesn't know what its doing. They're getting out of the tablet business, and maybe the PC business also.

My guess is that iOS and Android are so dominating that they decided they cannot compete with WebOS. When the HP Slate died and they switched to a WebOS tablet, they were probably already tentative about their chances, and then when the report came out a couple months ago about Apple overtaking HP in the laptop sales when considering iPad they probably decided to throw in the towel Pawlenty style.

Short answer; HP is dumping WebOS and the TouchPad and is liquidating all their stock for 99 and 149 for 16 and 32gb respectively. Many retailers that have TouchPad stock are matching the price, most are sending them back to HP (which will then sell those too at 99 and 149).

I have talked to 2 different people at 2 different office depots in my area and both say they will be getting more in either tuesday or wed. They said to call first.
They both also said that HP was holding a bunch back for later release.
Thats just what I'm told so who knows what to believe. But I'll be calling them several times a day for the next few days.

You and me both. I hope it's tomorrow; I'm traveling Wednesday....which is why I wanted the TouchPad in the first place!
