The hardware's the issue. HP engineers put WebOS on an Ipad, and it really flew. Not so much on the Touchpad hardware :^D

It's $100. 2 rolls of snus(shipped), a decent(not extravagant) dinner for 2, 1.5 concert tickets... It's hard to beat at that price. A nice beater tablet you don't really care about. Lose it? So what, get another. Keep one in the car for war driving. Put one in the bathroom for reading, or streaming music. Keep one in the kitchen for recipes... There's a lot of possibility the $100 price tag affords, but becomes less attractive at the $300 price point.

The homebrew community will more than likely spring up to take over this device... With the price being low it's only a matter of time before developers start playing with it in their free time.

With that said, i'm still not purchasing one. I think tablet computing is the future but the web is still built for a traditional computer. Until the majority of it swings in favor of the tablet I'll stick with the computer.

No support, no updates. You're on your own, but that's the price you pay for a cheap device. If I had extra money, I'd pick one up. The hardware's pretty weak, but there's a lot of fun stuff to play with. Think of all the places a $100 computer could go. You could put one in every room in the house, and still pay less than you did for your first computer :^D

If your looking for a tablet...

HP is fire-selling the Touchpad. $99 for the 16g one and $149 for the 32g version. They are virtually the same size as the iPad 1.

I always thought WebOS was the best mobile operating system but not for $499 ($399 with the price drops last week).

Great browser, great for an E-reader. Go get you one!

I bought two at Wal-Mart, had to do site to store because the manager was a douche, but check out your favorite electronics retailer today and I bet they have if for dirt cheap!
