But if I tag you in a status update it does the same thing. I think I explained that poorly at the start of my rant and better at the end. I like my posts to show evolution. Maybe one day I will get opposable thumbs and lose this pesky tail!

The rub is "will be seen by your circles". Most time when I post to someone's wall on FB, I don't particularly want MY friends to see the post. G+ seems to be missing that "one" piece.

One of them actually has a team of people that does this and atleast have been kind enough to keep a list of people who don't appreciate it. It is that or making it so no one can post to your wall.

In general I don't necessary get the separation between status updates and wall posts. I mean I understand the differences but not the why's advantages. Especially with being able to tag people in status updates, notes, comments etc. If you want everyone to be able to see something but want a person to have special attention with it then you tag them. Tagging them effectively puts it on there wall in FB.

And here is the thing, tagging someone in G+ does the same. So it is a better analog for the wall. Tagging and wall posts are kind of redundant. G+ also allows you granular control of who can tag you and how (requires approval, and on what).

No it does show up in "their" stream, what it does not do is show up in their profile when other people look at it. Only items they shared and others shared with them that you are either in the same circle or part of extended circles. Which theoretically you would see on your stream. There isn't really a wall to write on like FB. The profile view merely is content sensitive, not even activity sensitive. I don't think you can see when they add other people to their circles. You know like FB's "person A is now friends with person B".

Ah saw you added me, cool. The one thing I cannot figure on Google+ is how to post directly to someone (like posting on a Facebook Wall). I can post to the circle they belong to, or send them an email but not post "on their wall".

I've added a few of you guys who I recognise from this thread to a snuson circle.

I'm Andy Hewitt-Lock, in case you're wondering who the stranger is adding you!

I caved in and joined up. I quite like it, so far. Not as user friendly as I hoped, but Google are pretty good at sorting these things out. The circles are definitely A Good Thing.

To be fair, they are still in limited field trials and already have 10 million+ users in only the first month. People will get on there once the doors open, it just isn't completely launched yet as they are rolling out slowly so it may seem kind of quiet right now.

Personally, I like the simplicity of it, which is the same reason why I use Google search. It's a clean interface and I don't have to do it all up like a myspace page. It allows me to filter who hears what I say and what I have to hear from other people. Pretty sure there will be others who like these qualities. I don't see it killing facebook, but definately going to be competition. Google has a big fanbase. Then again it isn't even launched with all of the features yet so we'll have to see what they make out of it.

I never thought facebook would kill myspace but look what happened, myspace is a failure and bankrupt and will be gone in a matter of months. It happens fast, I expect facebook will lose a lot of money because of G+.
