Assuming Turd Burgers® take off(I have severe doubts), they could be made close to the source. Every community could have a Turd Burger® factory, so the environmental impact should be fairly small.

Hard to say without reviewing the exact process. People use energy regardless, but the specific energy use is what matters. f the factories used coal it would probably be pretty bad. Nuclear, not so much.

One concern I'd have with turd burgers(other than eating processed shit :^D) would be possible concentration of heavy metals, or other toxins. That may have been accounted for, but it's something to be aware of. The occasional turd burger probably wouldn't hurt, but a steady diet could be an issue :^/
