Over a month smoke free and I caved....

I bought another pack yesterday. Only so I can have smoke breaks at work (3 cigs in a 5 hour shift). The reason I can't really snus at work is because I'm constantly talking to hot chicks here at William and Mary (work) and sometimes I feel that it messes up my speech or when I have a big smile that it's visible.

So I chew gum in between breaks. And I don't smoke any at home or off work. There's only 2 weeks left of my job anyway so don't worry, I'm not going back to smoking.

Yeah, stick with it. After a while you develop a snus pocket and there should be no visibility or speech impediment. Have you thought of using minis or longs at work for the time being?

              Exactly! Offer them some minis.

If they are truly worthy of talking to then they will respect the fact that you are trying to quit and that snus is the product you are using. At least you don't have a spit cup *puke*

The ones that act like they aren't interested because of snus are really just not interested. They like to find things that you are in control of and that they feel won't hurt your ego as an excuse. If they are interested they will put up with A LOT. How do you think I have had so many Gorgeous Girlfriends? It's for Damn sure not because I didn't have any bad habits or because I'm good looking. Personality goes much further with them than us.

I did something similar, about a month after I quit smoking for snus. A coworker/good friend badgered me into a cigarette on our lunch break, and I took one. Thankfully, I could only take 3 or 4 drags before realizing how terrible it tastes, not to mention the pain in my throat from inhaling. Haven't had another cigarette since!

The great thing about snus is that once you've made the transition from cigarettes, snus always wins. You can smoke the occasional cigarette without feeling guilty because your brain will tell you it sucks and that it wants its snus. One cigarette per month or even per week is much much better than 20 per day. Don't beat yourself up, just stay the course with snus. Congrats on your quit.

Exactly. I have one on occasion, if I'm drinking, and I don't feel bad about it. When I used to crave a smoke after a snus, I now crave a snus after a cig. I have a box of cigarettes here that I had one out of when I drank last week, and that one cig is the only one missing from the box. In time, willpower, my friend. But don't be frustrated. It takes time.

If you like the action and process of smoking, I would recommend picking up some premium cigars and pipes/pipe tobaccos. Both have their own hobby aspects to them and taste 100x better than cigarettes. No inhaling.

Brain imaging demonstrates that former smokers have greater willpower
