McClellands Islay is actually an amazing deal at $30, and a decent stand-in when you don't want to spend $70 on a bottle of the great stuff.
I'll second that. Here in the States it's more like $22, depending on the State you're in. And it's pretty decent. It isn't top shelf, but the price is good and it's very drinkable.

I have had the good fortune to build a fine library of scotches. But alas that has ended with current economic worries. I have also had the good fortune to have as a close acquaintance, A fine Scots man, who has been troubled for some time in trying to find the "ONE". He has dedicated considerable time and effort in his quest, and spends many months in Scotland pondering. He has proposed this one as close to an Angels kiss- A fine oak- There is an "18" but the "17" retains a bit more of that Base.

And on the "one" note, there is a rumored cask of Highland Park, that will never see a bottle and you have to be family!

And if, and only if, you are inclined to wave an ice cube at a bottle, That rough as Hell Cask strength Macallan begins to purr like a kitten with a cube of crystal clean spring water! IMHO. It just needed some taming I suppose.................................

Grant's Ale Cask Reserve is my number one favourite right now, great ale taste in backround, goes well with Oden's Kanel or Skruf ES. Gotta love it!
