    Those greedy bastards at ebay

A message from ebay I recieved today

We know online buyers pay attention to shipping costs when deciding what and where to buy. That's why, to encourage low-cost shipping, Final Value Fees for all sellers will be applied to the total amount of the sale, including shipping. Just keep your shipping costs low to get the lowest overall fees.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......

I've been wrong lots of times.  Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.

I feel your pain, they hit me with a $5 and some change fee for an auction that ended under $50...and I gave the winner free shipping.

I can understand them doing this as a way to make money off of those few sellers who try to circumvent eBay fees by offering an item at a dollar and then charging a $99 shipping fee. But this is bullsh*t for those of us that charge actual USPS shipping rates. After eBay and Paypal fees, it's just not worth it anymore.

          It was bound to happen.

eBay: 2011 Spring Seller Update - Fee update

Glad I have nothing to do with eBay. Biggest complaints I've heard from sellers is that eBay rules increasingly favor the buyer. Is that because "The customer is always right"? Or simply that it's easier to screw the seller 'cause the seller is beholden to the great monster??

wtf....in july the final value fees go up to 11%. someone will be going postal at the ebay headquarter before too long.

a sell just can't win anymore.

can't wait till the government figures out how to tax ebay sales.

was wondering when fleebay will catch up to that, it was just a matter of time, first with the FVF, then reserve fee and now a seller can not list a item for 1$ and ask for 20$ to circumvent the FVF, well fleebay is not what it used to be ...

Well they don't need to as we all declare them on our tax returns right?

Beleive I already pay Luxembourg tax on my listing fees anyway being in the EU :/ Not sure how that works in the US?

'Aint that the truth. Buyers can leave WTH they like negative feedback about you and all you can leave them is positive feedback, they lie that they haven't received stuff and demand refunds.....I got well stiffed over Xmas with some sales to the US where DVDs were held by 'Homeland Security' for a couple of months and only a couple of the members I sold to were reasonable about it and were patient for their delivery. One demanded a refund through a dispute just a week after I had sent it to her without even contacting me before raising the dispute! Ebay pretty much said well you best refund otherwise it will go against you!

The thing is in the end it will hurt the buyer as well. Because sellers will either leave the site or roll these costs into the overall cost it takes to win the auction.

The fees wouldn't be so bad if disputes weren't so lopsided against the seller. On a fair trading field, it's worth good money to have an international market, but not at the expense of losing by default whenever something doesn't go exactly to plan, or you're outright scammed by a buyer.

I hear you on this one. I sold (or Thought I sold) some 3D glasses. The winning bidder outbid two other people. In the end, he never paid me for them. My only option on Feedback was Positive. Yep. The seller can now olny leave positive feedback or none at all. So this jackhole wastes my time, costs me money and no one will ever know about it.

                          Friggen Ebay.

I think you should be able to raise a dispute against him in the Resolution Centre for non-payment and then Ebay will chase him and if he doesn't come good he gets an 'Unpaid Item Strike' on his account and you get your Final Value Fee credited back to your Ebay account. You can then also add him to your Blocked Bidders List so he can't screw you around again in the futire. You could then make a Second Chance offer to the next bidder in line if you would be happy with that price as a BuyItNow rather than re-listing.
