Plans to target sale of tobacco products to be unveiled

I watched this report on the BBC this morning and I think it is quite pointless. Changing packaging etc won't help anyone quit smoking. I remember reading a WHO estimate a while ago that suggested that no matter how hard governments try and regulate cigarettes around 17% of the world's population will continue to smoke due to their addiction to nicotine. (Don't quote me on those numbers but I am pretty sure that was the figure)
I think having an viable alternative like snus is far better strategy as it provides the nicotine which people crave and which is not delivered by NRT products.
As an aside, I constantly walk past people these days smoking outside their offices and think - That is a pretty inefficient nicotine delivery system. What would happen if they knew about snus and could buy it in every corner shop? Would they still smoke if they knew of the benefits of snus vs. smoking?

I can't think of anything cooler than a plain white packet with Cigarettes written on it in helvetica.

I like to have a chat with an online NHS smokefree advisor from time to time to let them know what i think about the policies they help keep in place...

I'm a 60 something year old life time non-smoker. I don't understand the thinking behind these ideas. Displays dont make me buy tobacco products, I dont see the point in hiding them under the counter. I guess there will be an increase in the sale of cigarette cases - like phone cases - to overcome the bland packets, new business for someone!

Ask them about snus, they won't know what you're talking about
