I'm a little embarrassed... I came home from school and opened my mailbox and got two packages.

Both of them aren't really what a guy like me should have. My family is middle class/higher class, and we live in one of the best parts of Oslo. That's why this is so embarrasing.

I just got 25 packs of Jack Link's beef jerky and a VIF branded metal can for my snus.

JLBJ is available here as well, but they cost 5-7 dollars a pack. Now I got 15 packs with bites, and ten sticks.

So, what do you think about Beef Jerky? Do you eat it?

I like beef jerky, but most of what I see at the supermarket looks like it was probably made from old milk cows that fell over dead. When I was kid almost every mom-and-pop grocery had glass jars of beef jerky at the counter and you could buy it by the piece. A cold soda in a glass bottle and a stick of beef jerky was a nice snack on a hot summer day.

Did you get the jerky that comes in a dip can?



If you are going redneck try to get your hands on some boiled peanuts. That's a big redneck snack in the US south.

Beef jerky's awesome. It's a great protein dense food, with a long shelf life, that also happens to be delicious. My favorite is Wild Bills original. I haven't gotten it in awhile, but it used to be one of the very few that didn't have added nitrites. You could make it yourself also. Dehydrators are fairly cheap, and it's easy to do.

As to redneck candy. This is redneck candy...

@Internope. No, I wasn't aware of that, but that's cool! I'm pretty sure it'll never be imported to Norway, but if I'm lucky I'll find one on eBay. Beef jerky hasn't been in Norway for more than 10 years, tops. In the Norwegian countryside it was easier to find, as they all want to look like they're from Alabama. Country music, cowboy hats, Ford pick-ups and of course beef jerky.

@lxskllr. Haha, I guess it is I knew it was rich on protein. The Norwegian online store "proteinfabrikken.no" (the protein factory . no) sells it. I've had two, but I guess I'll save some.

Yep, it's made just for snus. It looks like the top is just gonna fall of, but there's a magnet keeping it on space.

I love Beef Jerky. It was one of the things I missed when I stopped eating meat. Now I go to a health food store and stock up on meatless jerky. It's pretty good.

That is one thing I have never associated with rednecks. Beef jerky is hella expensive..all the redneck jerky the lower (meaning geo location)'Alabamans' use is oftentimes freshly killed deer jerky. Now for store bought jerky...many women eat that as a snack because it is low fat and near zero carbs but with protein. The number one consumer in my area probably happens to be soldiers though because it satisfies hunger without having to prepare while out in the field. So enjoy your expensive jerky and who cares who else uses it! *btw - i have no issues with lower alabamans and rednecks, so no offense to anyone was intended here.

There was a Norwegian tv show called "alt for Norge" (all for Norway) where Norwegian-Americans would come to Norway and do many different tasks so that they could meet their Norwegian families. One of the things they did was going to a traditional Norwegian "bygdefest", which is a party with farmers on the countryside. What they all said was that if there was one thing they would never expect to find in Norway it would be cowboy hats and country music. So they were all very surprised

@Desirexe. Haha. In Norwegian stores it's expensive. But that's understandable, as it's been shipped to the UK and then to Scandinavia. I bought mine on ebay. 150 NOK for 25 packs. As I've said, the price for one pack is 5-7 dollars in Norway. About 30-40 NOK.
