Probably but even though MSNBC is unabashedly liberal it is not a charitable enterprise and ol' Keith was starting to cost them viewers, money, and hassles they just didn't need anymore. If his ratings had been neck and neck with the Beck he could have done just about anything and they would have continued to support him hassles or not.
Cable host Keith Olbermann and news channel MSNBC abruptly parted ways on Friday night, as the network announced that his contract had ended and the last installment of his show would air that evening.
The surprise announcement strips MSNBC of its most-watched evening anchor after an increasingly tempestuous relationship, coming less than three months after the network briefly suspended the fiery host.
"MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors," the network said in an emailed statement just before the end of Mr. Olbermann's program.
MSNBC and Mr. Olbermann have been discussing ending his contract for some time, according to a person familiar with the matter. Neither side offered an explanation for their split. On the air, Mr. Olbermann said Friday would be his last show, and thanked viewers and staff.

Executives have said tensions between Mr. Olbermann and the network have been running high since their spat in November, when the host was suspended for making three donations to Democratic candidates without seeking approval beforehand.
Mr. Olbermann missed two broadcasts during his suspension. MSNBC asked Mr. Olbermann to make a public apology for running afoul of its ethics rules before reinstating him, according to a person familiar with the matter. But Mr. Olbermann resisted so long as MSNBC kept him suspended, the person said.

Mr. Olbermann's exit comes on the eve of Comcast Corp.'s takeover of network parent NBC Universal, in a deal that received regulatory approval in Washington earlier this week.
An MSNBC spokesman said that Comcast was informed of the decision, but not involved in making it.
Joe ... do you have a backup for your frequent KO posts??
“This may be the only TV program where the host was much more in awe of the audience than vice versa. You will always be in my heart.” JOE234 and His Prolific Posse quoting Keith and Olberman quoting them and them quoting Bender quoting somebody.....
God dam it keith mde me get out of bed for this shit........
I'm actually kinda(sorta) sorry to see it. Yeah he was a Talking Head, and could be annoying at times, sure. But he really wasn't nearly the lefty he was usually made out to be. Plus, there really needs to be a counter to the Limbaugh/Coulter/Hannity/O'Reilly/Beck funny farm, in my opinion. They've really got the market cornered.
Olberdouche should go to FoxNews. He and Beck could co-host (like Hannity or Colmes used to) but in this show we could see who was more wacko. Each week they could have a contest to see who can make up the most outrageous sh*t.
Eh whatever I'm not a fan of Olberman but I'm not surprised he was their top rated host MSNBC is way more boring than FOX. Glenn beck might just not agree to co host and he has other media and lots of money in his pocket, but it would be interesting if they did a show segment.
