"Four Democrats in the Alabama House of Representatives switched parties on Monday, giving Republicans the necessary majorities in both chambers of the Legislature to bring up their agenda and shut down delays from Democrats if they vote as a bloc.
The legislators said they would be able to better serve their constituents in the Republican Party, which they said better represents their beliefs.
Alan Boothe of Troy, Mike Millican of Hamilton, Lesley Vance of Phenix City, and Steve Hurst of Munford announced their switch, which was reported by the Montgomery Advertiser on Friday. "
You gotta give it to the republicans, they will continue to dominate the government for a long time to come because they have the hive-mind mentality. They all vote together like an unstoppable force, taking a minority & turning it into a giant brick wall used to block anything and everything the current administration wants to do. This type of cooperation is unheard of in the democratic party, and now the GOP gets to welcome 4 brand new turncoats to their tidal wave of NO votes.
But I say let them all say no, they can all sit there and never get anything done, and in that scenario we can at least keep spending & taxes at current levels for all of 5 minutes.
PLUS: Democrats will have a tough time winning the House in 2012 due to Voting Rights Act requirements
