    Turncoats are the new pink

"Four Democrats in the Alabama House of Representatives switched parties on Monday, giving Republicans the necessary majorities in both chambers of the Legislature to bring up their agenda and shut down delays from Democrats if they vote as a bloc.

The legislators said they would be able to better serve their constituents in the Republican Party, which they said better represents their beliefs.

Alan Boothe of Troy, Mike Millican of Hamilton, Lesley Vance of Phenix City, and Steve Hurst of Munford announced their switch, which was reported by the Montgomery Advertiser on Friday. "

You gotta give it to the republicans, they will continue to dominate the government for a long time to come because they have the hive-mind mentality. They all vote together like an unstoppable force, taking a minority & turning it into a giant brick wall used to block anything and everything the current administration wants to do. This type of cooperation is unheard of in the democratic party, and now the GOP gets to welcome 4 brand new turncoats to their tidal wave of NO votes.

But I say let them all say no, they can all sit there and never get anything done, and in that scenario we can at least keep spending & taxes at current levels for all of 5 minutes.

PLUS: Democrats will have a tough time winning the House in 2012 due to Voting Rights Act requirements

Hmm... So which time were they lying? When they ran for office, or now? It must be inspiring knowing you voted a lying sack of shit into office.

      I'm with you, lxskllr.

I've always been of the mind that if you're elected a Democrat or a Republican, you should serve that term as such. If you want to switch parties, you should have to wait until the next election cycle. I imagine these guys could have served the same purpose by simply voting with the Republicans without switching parties.

But, oh well. Here's something I found interesting and almost hard to believe...The last time Republicans were in control of the legislature in Alabama...Tom Edison had yet to invent the light bulb, and Bell hadn't invented the telephone yet.

So your saying it was the Republicans that caused telemarketers. I knew there was a reason I didn't like them :^D

Yah, this is an extremely dick move. This is fraud. Not but 15 days ago they were claiming to be democrats so they could get elected, then they immediately go turncoat on you. That is dispicable and im amazed that it's legal.

I'm happy because it means more Republicans, but I do agree with you sgreger, it is a dick move. Bait and switch. If I were one of the people that voted for them I would be pissed!

The Republicans of the 19th century (hell, even until FDR) were very different from today's Republicans.

Agreed. There is very little difference between Republicans and Democrats now. They both fight against each other, are ruled by the lobbyists, only care about partisan politics and getting reelected, and easily forget who they work for.

                  Total corruption of power.

Yeah, I'm glad for the Repubs to have both houses, but I would be pissed had a I been a Dem and voted in one of those guy's districts.
