We got Mark Dayton, another anti-marijuana doo gooder Democrat.
The good news is that Governor Pawlenty is not seeking re-election. The bad news is that the candidates to replace him are eager to continue criminalizing the seriously ill. The Republican nominee — Tom Emmer — is so dismissive of medical marijuana that he introduced an amendment to replace “marijuana” with “pot” in the 2008 bill. The Democratic nominee — Mark Dayton — said he wouldn’t support a bill that made law enforcement uncomfortable. Minnesota’s law enforcement organizations opposed even a bill so restrictive that it only would have protected the terminally ill. Both Emmer and the Independence Party candidate Tom Horner said they’d consider a bill to allow medical marijuana in pill form. This is meaningless because Marinol, a THC pill, is already legally available in the U.S., but is ineffective for many patients. Please contact these candidates and let them know how disappointed you are with their heartless stances. If you are a patient, a medical professional, or a supporter with a compelling story to share, and you are interested in attending campaign events to question candidates on this issue, please send an e-mail to state@mpp.org.
If this Pawlenty guy runs for President, dont trust the Fu@ker!
I miss Jesse.

So I still havn't figured out what happened outside of california. It looks like the reps took the house, but lost the sante (but no by much), is that the case? Who is the new house speaker?
After what happened in CA yesterday, I have decided there is no hope. This was the most dissapointing election of all time, and we lost to possibly the worst democrat in the nation. He was already governor in the past and wrecked the state BIG TIME, especially schools in oakland, and now they elected him again.
But lol@ meg whitman, she must be so pissed that she spent all those hundreds of millions of dollars and still lost, while brown spent almost none of his own money and ran virtually no campaign untill a few months ago. She's probably beating up her maids or something right now.

Yah I was pretty trashed when I wrote that lol. I was just crushed that brown won. I guess I contributed to it in a way since I didn't vote for Whitman, but still I am just astounded that CA would elect him AND Barbara boxer again. I guess it just saddens me at what the choices have come to, I feel like the democrats have already done so much to harm this state that it is beyond me why anyone would vote for them. Then I am reminded that CA has a special type of republican it attracts, the terrible type, and so even electing them wouldn't change anything. They all just spend money like it's going out of style and yet things never get better. Our schools never get better, our roads never get better, vehicle registration goes up constantly, the toll on the bridge keeps raising, and they are constantly trying to increase property taxes by repealing prop13. I mean, the way Californians do things make no sense to me; we pass prop 8 and make a constitutional ammendment to ban gay marriage, then CA judges repeal don't ask don't tell for the military (somehow) before they get prop 8 overturned here at home. It makes no sense.
And what country are you living in, death threats and the like are integral to both American politics and drunken snuson rants, didn't you know that?
I'm just so sick of everyone I talk to in CA, of all the states ive lived in it seems like CA has a special brand of citizen running around here. We try the same things year after year and they never work. Everyone usually votes dem, but every once in a while we get a republican in here, and like MAGIC they end up being the worst republicans ever. It's to the point where I consistently have no one that I want to vote for come election day. I voted straighline libertarian anyways, just to have my vote cast against the two TERRIBLE choices we had this year.
And the funny thing is that college aged kids turned out for Jerry brown in decent numbers, yet only like 13% of them said they even cared about prop 19, because they don't realize the concept of freedom or states rights because those things apparently are not taught anymore. And I don't care what you all are saying about it being a flawed bill and not perfect so that everyone can freely blaze any amount wherever you want, that's not going to happen. This is so not about smoking, this is about states rights and adults not being nannied by the government.
Anyways, sorry about my rant but I don't take it back. I would just add the stipulation that Whitman would not have been any better. But I do favor the death penalty for career criminals, and I believe our representatives here fit the crime with the number of lives they have destroyed through their actions.

Man, that's a whole lotta red on that map
http://elections.nytimes.com/2010/results/house
Pretty good numbers for the republicans. They won the largest amount of house seats that anyone has for 70 years (60 seats), and took the house from nancy pelosi.
In the Senate, they are almost 50/50, which I think is best case scenario. Perfect would be to have dems/reps both control 50% of the government, then they will just gridlock each other. But they won 6 seats in the senate and that leaves it as Dem:51, Rep: 46, so pretty close.
http://elections.nytimes.com/2010/results/senate
The Tea Party, after beginning to assemble only 18 months ago, has gained quite a bit ofpower, as they gave the republicans 12 house seats and 3 senate seats. Man moveon.org and code pink must be jealous, they've been trying to have power like that for years!
Now it's your turn up to bat Republicans. You don't have the kind of majority where you can take control of the game, but now the dems have to play ball with you. We'll see how that goes, but I think America has cmoe to expect very little out of the republicans, and therefore will not be as dissapointed when they fail to fix anything.
Meanwhile, in about 30 minutes the Federal Reserve is going to be starting their meeting on QE2. Theresult will be that at 2:30 today they will anounce that they will be injecting $500 billion (printing it, rather) into the economy, with the hope of creating some short term inflation. With mroe money flowing around and a little bit of short term inflation, it will look like the economy is recovering, which is good because the deficit commission will be coming out with some pretty bad numbers and strong recommendations is December. Next year is going to be interesting.

I'd agree about the death threats if my idea of political discourse was along the lines of George Lincoln Rockwell but it's not.
The country I do live in seems to be populated by many frightened people that keep placing war profiteers and war criminals in positions of power. This appears to me to be true for both political parties. Instead of war criminals being the scourge of the earth our society now venerates them and gives lucrative book or television contracts.
As for the Republicans taking over the House I will be interested in seeing what sort of economic triumph they can come up with. Weren't these the same folks that kept the budget deficit down by simply not including war spending in the budget, sort of Enron-style accounting? Now they're upset about spending??? "Hey, Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat" keeps playing in my mind. "That trick nevers works!"
The good news for Nancy Pelosi is that impeachment is BACK on the table.... Funny thing about these DLC "new" Democrats is that they gave all kinds of cover (i.e., never an investigation) to the war profiteers and never even got a t-shirt in return - just their asses handed to them in the midterms. No sympathies here.
Sorry but society killing guilty (or possibly innocent?) people in my name is not my thing. I do not wish to be a killer. If you ever get the chance to ride the Larkspur ferry you might notice there might be worse punishments than death.
Anyway, enjoy Santa Cruz, it is beautiful down there.
