    Any vinyl (records) collectors here?

When my dad passed away back in March, I inherited all of his old vinyl. Beatles, Floyd, Who, and just recently started buying vinyl that is more recent. I think it would be neat for my kid to inherit two generations of records. That, and vinyl sounds so much better then CD's or MP3's. So does anyone on here collect vinyl as well?

I do, I have been collecting since '96 and have sold most of my collection at one time and now collecting again for three years with over 200 LP's.

Edit: The thing I like about vinyl LP's is that some have pictures in the vinyl itself (picture discs) and the artwork on the cover is larger than a CD so you can see better. But I like to watch the record spin around, I know it may sound silly but I do sit and watch the record spin while I listen to the music. Plus the music does sound better than CD, MP3, or any other format yet.

Nice!! Not sure how many I have, I would guess between 100-150. My dad had a lot of stuff.

I found a 1996 Offspring Ixnay first pressing at a local shop last weekend. Sounds pristine.

I have mostly 80's thrash, some death metal, and old punk/hardcore. I also have some obscure stuff like the Residents.

Back in the day, LPs were the thing, and I had a bunch. 8-track tapes too. I've since swapped them out for CDs.

I'm just going through my CD collection and rebuying it on vinyl. Mostly punk and grunge.

I am not a collector, but I still have my entire hoard of albums from back in the day. I wish I would take the time to set up a system to play them. I have a fantastic system from the late 80's, but it is all in pieces.

About 2000 albums and about 1000 7's. I am running a Garrard 301 turntable, SME 3009 metal knife edge tone arm, Denon DL110 cart, Quad 303 amp, Quad 33 pre amp and Rogers JR 149 speakers. Vinyl sounds far superior in my opinion.

I remember those Ronco and K-Tel records collections, I had a few. Remember Combat records, Combatcore, Megaforce. I miss those days.

My system that is currently not put together is an Audio Research SP-10 pre-amp and D-70 power amp (both all tubes), Goldmund Studio turntable, Pierre Lurne tone arm, Koetsu moving coil cartridge, and Magnepan Tympani IV speakers. Top shelf stuff, in the day.

I used to have a hell of a collection, a couple thousand LPs. I had a lot of rare LPs like The Beatles VeeJay album, Little Richard, Elvis... I sold the good ones and the rest went to Salvation Army.

Top shelf indeed, a very serious audiophile set up. I hope you find the time get it running again.
