By being the only state not to tax smokeless tobacco, Pennsylvania is sending youth a message that it's all right to buy these products, said Mr. DePasquale.

"We are in a sense saying 'We in Pennsylvania think it's OK,' " he said.

Since when did taxing or not taxing a product mean something is ok, or not ok to buy and use? Thats the most ridiculous statement i have ever heard. By not taxing it we are saying its ok, by taxing it we are saying its not ok? How can people get away with saying something so moronic and actually be taken seriously?

Well folks, food at the grocery store is no longer accepted by the gov't as ok to eat, well, its taxed isn't it? Damn, what am I gonna eat now?

Honestly I'd rather have my kid chain snusing as opposed to smoking or dipping. Nicotine addiction isn't in any way a positive thing for a teenager, but at least you wouldn't need to worry about them getting caught smoking around school / spitting into a bottle in class if they were going to use tobacco regardless. And if they continued to use tobacco, their chances of developing a related disease would be dramatically lower using snus than smoking / dipping.

It really is funny as hell in a not so funny kind of way, that not only has parenting been taken away from adults in this country and turned over to the gov't, but also that their solution to everything children related is to tax the hell out of adults (because its protecting the children, WOW). And the sheep accept this, and welcome it. I have given up even trying to understand the thought process of most people.
