Skruf new design - 22 grams

I've been at the store here in Norway and picked up a Skruf Stark White and Skruf Stark, with the new design box. Looked at the back and see 22 grams. I haven't counted so not sure if its 22x1g portions or 24x0.9g, but I think its 22.

Prices in stores seem to be the same still, even here in Norway where a box costs 67NOK/8.5EUR/12USD. This is largely due to tobacco tax, which is now 2 grams cheaper.

While it is understandable that Skruf probably chose to lower it by 2 grams in order to stay competitive, I do feel a bit double crossed with them hiding it under a new design. Even Northerner still lists it as 24g.

There's a slight chance they've only lowered it for the Norwegian market to make it more profitable for suppliers. Even if doubtful, would be nice to know if anyone knows otherwise.

    EDIT:
seems like they've got more info up on Northerner,
    http://www.northerner.com/articles/S...2318/SHOP-317/
so its 24 portions divided by 22 grams.

no, prices are the same here in the store. So either the importer, Imperial Tobacco Norway AS, or the convenience stores, make up the profit. Perhaps their profit margins were lower compared to other brands, so maybe it's a (necessary) competitive move. Most other brands now a days seem to be going to 22g or 20g.

That's what I'm saying. Manufacturers do that to take advantage of stupid people. If you're getting less product for the same price, you're paying more for the product.

yeah, and Jakobsons has only 20 grams, traditionally a kardus of snus would be 250g..

The old white/red portion tins say 22g on the bottom also...either way I think its absurd how they do that, especially with their los too.
And I hope for your sake the tins come with a bottle of lube... $12 is ridiculous

Skruf made the change late last year. I missed it at 1st as I was still seeing '24' on the bottom of the tin but then noticed the wording had been changed from 24g snus to 24 portions, 22g snus so less snus in each portion.

I got two cans of the old design here, one stark white one stark, which I bought 2 weeks ago, got 24g. The new design, both stark and stark white, 22g.
I think the extra stark portions may have been 22g earlier.

Wow I think it's 22.6 grams if they lower it to oh 22.49 maybe they can round down. That's insane though 50 cents a gram.

not really, considering higher wages and free healthcare. Also Norway is among the few governments that recognizes that snus has lower health risks then cigarettes, so cigarettes cost about 90NOK a pack, contain only 20 grams, and 1/10 the nicotine. On cigarette packs it says "smoking kills", on snus packs its got the standard warning of being addictive and may be health damaging (in contrast to cigarettes which kill).

This has something to do with my previous thread about 'what makes you keep buying snus?' but instead of raising prices they just give you a little less for the same cost! This is anarchy! Nah it doesn't bother me that much. If your truly motivated to find out if they are ripping you off just weigh the portions out on a scale and find out, I would do so but I dont know if we have a small enough scale and cant be bothered finding out. It wouldn't surprise me though if there is more than 22/24 grams though. . . That said, the new Skruf can design does look pretty cool.
